our trip to ny

first off i want to thank you all for such wonderful comments while i was out! my favorite thing about the citybirds nest is the interaction i have with all these amazing people! thanks guys!!!

so we had a blast in ny and who wouldn't, it is ny! we flew in mid afternoon and made our way from jfk to brooklyn where we were staying. the lady we were staying with wasn't home yet so we headed to a bar for happy hour. we called it an early night as we were pooped from the flight and having to get up so early.

friday the mister and i started the day off with breakfast and walked around the neighborhood of greenpoint and did some shopping at some thrift stores. we spotted this citroen broom wagon which is a french truck that was used in european bike races to pick up the riders that couldn't go any further. it is so cute and we were both surprised as the stickers on the back were from a local surf shop in sf, so they must have been from the bay area...way to represent!

a taxidermy weasel with a blue crystal pendent hanging from it's tooth...couldn't pass up this photo op
we made friends with this kitty named fatso at a coffee shop...you can a glimpse of my new jeans and yellow cardigan!

at the salvation army i scored a cute bright yellow cardigan that i have been trying to find and some killer high waisted silvertab jeans...anyone remember those from the 90's? so awesome and they fit like a glove! they looked so good with what i was wearing that i kept the jeans on ;D i never really do that...i am the type that likes to treasure my new finds and wait for that special day to bust them out but i was feeling crazy so i threw those high waisted babies on!

later that night was the bacherlorette party where the maid of honor brought homemade penis shaped cookies to the restaurant! they were really delicious and they were just so so funny, a great touch to end the dinner with!

we then hopped over to a bar and stayed there for the majority of the night....i made my way home at around 1:30 and didn't make it back to brooklyn until almost 4AM!!!!!!!!! the subway system there is crazy, great but so confusing especially at night when trains don't run as often and you have no idea where you are or what direction to go...thankfully people there are really nice and really helpful!

wearing my new kick ass high waisted 90's jeans!

staring at the million dollar apts. next to the moma

all the shots from the museum were no bueno...this one was the best one out of the lot!
saturday the mister and i went to the moma! it was the perfect day to go as it was rainy and cold outside and what better way to spend the day then look at beautiful art! we didn't get a chance to go last time so we made sure we went this time! it was really awesome to see starry night but sadly it was covered with glass but some of van gogh's other work was displayed so we could see his brilliant use of color and technique! to my happy surprise they had a huge 3 paneled monet! he is my favorite artist. i went to visit his home in paris when i was younger and fell so in love with him, his house and the land he lived on. such a beautiful inspirational life he lead!

the area where the ceremony was held...such a beautiful peaceful spot to say "i do"
yay the guggenheim..next time we will for sure go there!
anyone else spy conan looking AMAZING with that owl? ***swoon***
sunday was the wedding which was in central park! it was so beautiful and the bride looked like a grecian goddess! her mom made her dress and it was absolutely perfect! they rented a double decker bus and took us on a  tour of the city before it dropped us off at the restaurant. i would never pay for one of those tours but it was really awesome to see parts of the city we just didn't have time for! we passed the guggenheim,  the million dollar mansions, time square and the village. the city is just so beautiful,  i only wish we could have spent more time there!

monday we got up early ate another yummy breakfast packed up and headed back home...and while at the airport michael cera came out of the plane we were just about to get on!!! he is just such a little cutie!!! both times we have gone to ny we have seen someone famous...last time it was danny glover and spike lee...now no more vacations for a long time...well for sure some weekend trips. although i will be a brides maid for my best friend in another year! i can't wait for that celebration!

  3. Glad you had a great trip! Sorry to hear about your long wait...I'm assuming since you stayed in greenpoint you were waiting for the G which is the worst line at night. It's perfect until about 7 and then is super slow. Any how glad you enjoyed your time in nyc

  7. that taxidermy weasel is so gross and yet I kinda want it. I know first hand about the train system in Brooklyn, its a pain especially at night. We would always take a cab back to Brooklyn after a night out for that exact reason. Looks like you had a blast and who wouldnt with penis shaped cookies around?!?!

  8. looks like such a fun trip, I love your yellow cardi. Monet is my favorite too! Ever since I was probably 7 I've been in love with him and a few years ago I was lucky enough to go the Marmottan in Paris and I didn't want to leave. I seriously could've lived on a bench there and been happy for the rest of my entire life.

  9. what a wonderful trip! And I love that the wedding included a bus tour of the city, such a fun treat!

And on a side note, when I was growing up in Romania, a Citroen was our first family car! I did a double take when I saw the first picture bc you don't see many of those on this side of the pond.
