happy little things #15

happy monday everyone! tom and i are on our way back from boston. it is always hard to come back to reality after a week off but such is life. it was an awesome time and so very hard to leave my best friend. hopefully she will get a teaching job out here and we can be together again :)
but today i want to talk about...yogurt. yes, this makes me happy and not just any yogurt but this sheep yogurt from bellwether farms. it is just the yummiest thing ever!  my favorite being the blackberry. the others are just as yummy but i always go for blackberry. it is like desert but better and i could literally have it for every meal but sad thing...it is hard to find. they are a small company from norther, california and distribute to small selective stores. i am always on the hunt for it and when i find it, i squeeee with excitment and almost filling a whole basket of them. i have to be sure to share as tom loves it to. sharing  is no fun when it comes to my yogurt!

what is your favorite kind of yogurt?

happy little things #13

 my mug collection. they have been gathered near and far by tom or myself. we have limited cabinet space so we have to make sure we truly love them when we find them. we have lost a few along the way, handles breaking or them falling and shattering into hundreds of pieces. it is the saddest thing to see your ceramic friend broken and unable to glue it back together. maybe, i should start a graveyard or shrine in remembrance for those lost over the years. hehe
it makes me so happy to pull one of them from our cabinet and fill it with either hot coffee or tea. i truly believe that having an excellent coffee mug makes things taste better. i actually think it can be scientifically proven, really.

tom and i are heading back from camping today. can't wait to share. it was a new place and it is always exciting to try something new. hope everyone had a great weekend!

happy little things #12

our weekend was really nice. we hung out with kelly anne and the nuggets. it is one of my favorite things, just chilling and acting goofy with them. we played in the bath, got our portraits done, and swam at the pool and even made a cute little friend named payten, who was the sweetest little thing ever (she is the one with the beautiful blond curly hair and full jump suit)! i just love my little clemie-buns and how cute she looks in her swimming suit, i could cuddle her forever <3

it has been so much fun watching them both grow and become more human each time we see them. i love being an auntie and being surrounded by such cute nephews & nieces, i feel so lucky! what are your favorite moments with family?

happy little things #11

breakfast. b.r.e.a.k.f.a.s.t. one of the greatest things on the earth and you know they don't call it the most important meal of the day for nothing and lets face it, it pretty much is. if  i could get my lazy butt out of bed a bit earlier each day i would make myself a nice big ol' breakfast but since i am lazy i don't and this makes me sad but what can you do....what i can tell you is that i cherish the weekends when tom and i splurge and go out and eat a delicious morning meal!
the other weekend, we decided to try a new place and man oh man did it not disappoint! we did a bit of research and made sure we got there early as the place fills up after 10am, thankfully we got there around 9 and we were seated right away, it was awesome and it pleased me.
the restaurant which was called, brown sugar kitchen, is known for their chicken and waffles which is a favorite of toms. as for the icing on top of this wonderful place, they had cheese grits. now, some of you that have been reading for a bit. know, that i love me some good ol' grits!
tom and i really didn't need to read the menu as we were drooling over it the night before so we ordered right away and man oh, man oh man! the food was AMAZING! the best waffles, hands down i have EVER had and the chicken and waffles were out of this world. as the for the grits, i was pretty much in grits heaven! they were creamy and cheesy and just perfect to the very last morsel. tom had to stop me from licking my plate.

are you hungry yet?

happy little things #10

well, well, well. another happy little things and may i say this might be my favorite one yet!!!

first let me start by asking....does anyone know who migaloo is? (...insert: crickets chirping) well, if you don't know about migaloo, then you better ask somebody...just kidding, i'll tell you.
source
source
migaloo is a male ALBANO hump backed whale. amazing right? the answer : YES! i am pretty much in love with him and on top of it this huge guy has skin cancer :( yes, sad times.  i am in awe of this magical creature and i constantly refer to him because lets face it he is pretty much the coolest thing out there in the big blue ocean.
 well, now a few weeks ago tom and i were thrifting at our favorite thrift store, ecothrift and tom came up to me and showed me this amazing silk screen print of....OUR VERY OWN MIGALOOOOOOO!!!
i died, well not really, but i could have died the most happiest person alive. honestly. this may be the greatest thing we have thrifted. we noticed the name printed on the corner maruska and when we got home  we googled the name and damn, was it hard to find any information on it. our print is nowhere to be found so we are assuming it may be rare. maruska was a company that did silk screen's during the 70's and some of the prints on ebay go for about $100. they are pretty amazing. tom and i could fill our entire house with these prints as they embrace all the things we love so much, the 70's, amazing 70's colors and coastal life.

>>> in other news tom and i went surfing again this weekend and we are actually going to make it a habit to go every friday when we can. a while back tom found another waterproof camera, as the other camera was lost as sea. we didn't finish the whole roll so next friday we hope to finish it. hopefully it works and we get some good shots and will share as soon as they are developed!

how was your weekend?

happy little things #9

aaahh, my weekend has begun and i can't tell you how much this week has kicked my arse! this weekend will be spent, finishing up a tattoo design for a lovely little lady, updating my flicker portfolio, visiting home depot, hunting for the perfect piece next to our desk and then last but not least a 80 mile bike ride saturday morning! sounds like a lot right, you bet it is and i am soooooooo looking forward to it ALL!
 a few weekends ago, while at the store, i sited some ranunculus bulbs and quickly got in line to purchase them and this last weekend i planted them! it was the perfect time to plant and come summer they will be bursting from the earth full of color.  our little front yard needs a bit of color as it is currently all succulents and poppies. i can't wait.
tom got me these red ranunculus' for valentines day. they are one of my favorite flowers. i wanted orange ones for our wedding but they weren't going to be in season which almost made me reschedule the whole thing! hehe.... but we made it work ;)
this is a mixed box of colors so i am more then excited to see what pops up! it will be even more exciting because by the time they are blooming my poppies will be too, making our front yard a great destination for hummingbirds, bees and butterflies, yay! another reason why i love spring and sumer oh so much.

happy little things #8

oh happy friday <3
today's happy little things is all about rosie, our four legged furbaby whom i love so much. i am a firm believer that cats secretly rule the world.....and well, lets face it, they do. since we got rosie 2 years ago all she has to do is meow and we do what she wants. the perfect life right? i think so.
this is her new thing....hanging out on top of my sewing machine, me not a huge fan....
 she has so many faces, my favorite being the defiant one that she likes to show when she knows she is doing something we don't want her to do...that look says "oh, yea, make me", oh you silly rosie you.
she likes straws! what can i say...
another pose with her favorite toy, her pink straw
like all pets she has many, many names and we have our own secret language as well which i can not disclose because, well, then it wouldn't be a secret language, sorry dudes. here is a short little list of her many names:

>>> rosie ( her real name is rosalita, which we rarely use)
>>> brains or brain brains
>>> pussy
>>> pussy-gato
>>> puuh-saaay
>>> gato or el gato
>>>> grato
>>>> pussy-grato
>>> pussy-roboto
>>> or just straight up, roboto, cause lets face, its funny

my cousin turned me on to this article about how cats may be making us crazy... if the above is a sign of that...well, then shit people, there is no curing me.

have a great weekend!

happy little things #7

hello!

does anyone else have a hard time entering giveaway's? i love too but then in the back of my mind i always think, i'm not gonna win and then don't enter. well many months ago, amy from a is for ampersand, was hosting a giveaway for the cutest little locket and i was set on winning it.
sadly for me i was not the winner of this cute little locket so i made it my mission to find one. i discovered a new bead shop in sf that is absolutely fantastic, i could be there for hours and only just scratch the surface of the amazing treasures they have there.
while browsing a while ago i happened to cross this ornately designed oval locket and just fell in love with it. i loved how large it was and the crazy little fellow that works there, who will literally talk your ear off told me it was from a old jewelry factory in italy. he went on and on about it but my eyes started to glaze over and my brain began to wonder but i gladly paid for it and went on my merry little way.

i love lockets. they have a wonderful sense of nostalgia and are so charming and hold a little secret inside. for mine i wanted to add a picture of me and tom so i printed out black & white pictures of two i fancied, cut our heads out and just slide them right in! now tom will literally be with me where ever i go.

happy little things #6

 hello and happy monday! i am on my way back from a girl's weekend up in lake tahoe. will share a bit of our weekend later this week.
 it was brought to my attention (thanks emily!) that this month is national tea month! who would have thought. i am a HUGE tea drinker. i drink about 3 or 4 cups of it a day. growing up i had a friend who's mom was really big into tea and that is when my love of tea began. i love all sorts of tea and especially love a good glass of iced tea with lemon on a super hot day!

i switch up the brands every so often and have just recently gotten really into herbal tea. right now i am currently loving these. add a bit of honey and your golden. i also love green tea which is always a classic go to.
 for christmas my cousin's gave me a little mix that smells heavenly and once i fix my tea diffuser, the chain broke :(, i can finally try it! i can't wait.

what is your favorite tea?

a start of a beautiful dream

before the year ended i looked back on my year of 2011 and my list of 28 things to do. we had a lot of fun, did new things and basically had a really really great year. for this year i want to make mine and tom's dream start. this is the start of a beautiful dream.
for my new *list* i wanted to make it more goal orientated and do things that make me happy. tom and i someday would like a little family of our own but right now we are just not in the right place. we have dreams of chickens, bees and gardens, a HUGE room for tom to tinker with bikes and a great place for us to have a studio to be creative and happy, not that we aren't already, but to continue on that path of happiness. this is what we want and i am so so happy that we both are on the same wave length.
i have had to work hard for what i have, i am thankful to have had a mother who started me off in the creative world but i have had to work hard on what i do with my creativity, thus my new list for 2012. i wanted to be able to see my goals and fun things to keep us active so i cut out each of them and hung them over my desk so i can be reminded of them each day.
tom and i are adventurous people and we always know how to fun so i have sprinkled the list with a few things i want to do in 2012 but mainly it is a list of goals i want to start and hopefully accomplish in the near future not necessarily within a year. i by no means hold myself to any list. to me a list is like a journal entry, a way to get out all the things in my head. it is also nice to have a reminder of certain things.
my main goal for my future is narrowing down my crafts. i feel like a jack of all trades and not sure yet what i want to focus on. it is kinda daunting, how to begin on that journey?? i am not sure. do i try all types of things and see what works, what gives me the most joy and happiness?  often times i get really excited about an idea try it and then move onto the next thing. i think my next step is to write out all the things i enjoy doing and take it from there....i am excited for this journey and i know i can do it, i just have to be patient with myself and take things slowly. like they say, rome wasn't built in a day, if it was well then shit people, i'm screwed. hehe

i can say that i have already checked of two things off my list i made, my new blog design, yay! and another i will post about on thursday!

ALSO, since i am narrowing down my crafts and tattoo design is a HUGE part of what makes me happy, i am now offering tattoo design. check out the link at the top of the page!

don't forget that you can take 20% off my shop the entire month of January!

happy little things #5

happy friday everyone! hope you all have some fun things planned for this weekend!
when tom and i came back from our thanksbacon weekend, our angel trumpet free had gone crazy! it had so many blossoms which always makes me so happy. i fell in love with this tree the day we went to see the house for the first time. it was so amazing.
 when we went on our honeymoon and came back our neighbors had totally trimmed the crap out of it and it looked so so sad, they were trying to kill it but i have expressed my love for it over the months so they haven't tried to kill it since.
it is the first thing i see coming out of the house and at night it is when it smells it's best! it is a really soft sweet smell and i wish i could some how bottle it up and send to each of you.

i have a very busy next two days. tonight i have a show at my shop that i work at and then saturday is my big craft show at my old college, cca. if your a local i would love for you to come visit!

happy little things #1

hey everyone!  hope you all had a great weekend, can't wait to read all about them so i can live vicariously through you all. i have to say that work hasn't been too bad and i just have two more days and then i am FREEEEEEEEEEE for 3 days! hehe

a new little feature that i want to throw in the mix when the mood strikes. a reminder to me really about the little things that make me happy, make me smile or giggle. plus it is a way for you all to get to know me a little better :)
a while back tom and i went on a walk after dinner. it was sooo nice and a great break from the regularly work night routine. he wanted to show me a front yard that had a crazy cactus yard and i LOVE a good cactus jungle, i mean who doesn't! little maintenance, barely need to water, a win win really. needless to say we never found that yard and we walked around for a good hour and a half. the journey was much more fun then finding the actual house and more proof to me that tom has absolutely NO sense of direction, poor guy.

a little reminder to all to literally stop and smell the roses. they smell damn good!
