happy little things #13

my mug collection. they have been gathered near and far by tom or myself. we have limited cabinet space so we have to make sure we truly love them when we find them. we have lost a few along the way, handles breaking or them falling and shattering into hundreds of pieces. it is the saddest thing to see your ceramic friend broken and unable to glue it back together. maybe, i should start a graveyard or shrine in remembrance for those lost over the years. hehe
it makes me so happy to pull one of them from our cabinet and fill it with either hot coffee or tea. i truly believe that having an excellent coffee mug makes things taste better. i actually think it can be scientifically proven, really.

tom and i are heading back from camping today. can't wait to share. it was a new place and it is always exciting to try something new. hope everyone had a great weekend!

  1. I love your collection - so cute! I think it's true that things taste better when presented in a way you love. In fact I heard that there IS actual scientific research into this - it's because our senses work together rather than separately, so taste is actually influenced by other things, like sight (and I would add, happy memories, etc.) xoxo

  2. You are adorable. I love the mug on the far right with the blue flowers. All of our dishes are mismatched ones I've been collecting over the years from random places. Eating off a dish I love makes me hate having to hand wash our dishes a little less (but only just a little). Can't wait to hear about your camping trip!

  5. it's true that a cute mug can make whatever is inside taste better! bear bought me a mug with a sailor on it and it says "nautical but nice" it's perfect for concealing rum based beverages!

  6. I always like to pick up a mug from wherever we travel to. Its nice to have a little memento that brings back good memories. Maybe you could gather up the broken mugs and use them as tile for like a tabletop or something?

  14. Totally agree! Coffee tastes so much better from a special mug :) I drink out of mugs made (usually) by people I know...like my two roommies! They are both awesome potters, so it's fun to drink/eat from their wares.

Your collection is fantastic! Are you able to turn the broken mugs into a mosaic of some sort? That could be cool, no?

    Happy coffee or tea time!
