haha, this sweater just makes me smile so much! while late night trolling etsy in bed with tom we happened to come across this sweater and the instant tom saw it he said "you have to have that" so a few clicks later, it was MINE! i love when tom tells me to buy things.
i wore this to the sf renegade craft fair. i raced on over after work on sunday and got there with plenty of time. it was my first time ever going to renegade craft and with al the hype i was a little disappointed. there was some amazing stuff there but after a while some things started to look alike. i did a round to see what there was and when i was done i couldn't remember who was who and what i liked. maybe it was just overload.
i picked up a couple of earrings for myself and a present for a gift exchange i was going to the following day. i would love to go to the spring one next year and really take my time. either way it felt good supporting local indie businesses. i did a good job of not buying anything from large department stores this christmas season.
----> help!! the sweater is a bit big and the knit is chunky and i would like to take it in a bit but i don't want to ruin it, any advice you guys have would be AWESOME, thanks peaches!! <-----

I love that sweater - gah!!
ReplyDeleteWe have something here in NZ called "Craft 2.0" which I think is a little similar to Renegade Craft Fair - I tend not to go to every one now (they usually have it quarterly) otherwise I feel like I just see the same stuff over & over and it loses some of the buzz of seeing new and fun crafty things. But YAH! for supporting local indie business:)
Ahh, that sweater is PERFECT! So very cute!
ReplyDeleteAnd that's a bummer about the SF Renegade...I always picture Renegade being the queen of craft shows, right? Haha!
That sweater is adorable! Sometimes I find that tucking sweaters into high waisted skirts works well or wearing them over a skirt and belting them at the waist. xo, rv

I went to the Renegade Craft Faire on Sunday too and I too was disappointed. Or I guess I would have been if I was even able to process anything. All I remember were the hordes of people. I kept wondering what the maximum capacity of that building was lol.
ReplyDeleteAnother thing that bothered me was that a lot of the stuff I liked and wanted to find out more about, the people working the booth were hired to represent the maker. Doesn't seem right to me. At an event like that I expect to be buying hand made from the hands that made it! I did get a cool camera strap and ceramic succulent holder.
I love your sweater! I think the fact that it's a bit too big makes it look really cozy - like it's something you stole from a loved one because it's just too comfy to give back.
love that whole outfit!! that sweater is so cute and cozy looking! happy thursday!
ReplyDeleteThat sweater would be 10X as awesome if they were like... the ducks from Duck Hunt... but I'm a huge nerd who is up at 6:30 AM so.. you know... I fail.
ReplyDeletecan't help with the sweater, but it's awesome nonetheless. oh and so are your shoes..
ReplyDeleteWandered over here for the first time... I've taken in sweaters before. Do you still need some tips?
ReplyDeleteWinter SF Renegade is way less cool than summer! Go back in July, you might be a little more excited :D
ReplyDeleteI love the sweater! haha...how fun. Wish I could help with alteration tips, but I am sewing-dumb! haha
ReplyDeleteyou know I love me some birds so that sweater is right up my alley. It looks way cute on you. I wish I could help with some sewing tips but my knowledge goes as far as how to sew a button back on and I do that crappy.
ReplyDeletelove the sweater, reminds me of duckhunt! the real winner, though, for me is the shoes. can't believe it's so warm still in california
ReplyDeleteI LOVE your sweater!!! No idea really how to take it in though I'd be too worried; it's so cute! And the shoes are gorgeous, got to love a peep toe xox
ReplyDeleteAww that sweater is gorgeous! I'm a sucker for sweaters with animals on!

ReplyDeleteSuch a perfect sweater for bike riding around the city!
ReplyDeletethis outfit is hands down my favorite of all the ones you've posted. the sweater is super cute, pants fit perfectly and love the shoes...good luck with trying out the fair in the spring. sometimes i get overwhelmed at large fairs too. happy new year!
ReplyDeleteYou look darling, I love the sweater! I have no advice on taking it in though, other than getting one of those 80s sweater clip things (don't do it).
ReplyDeleteI linked over to your blog from tiny tangerines. I wanted to leave you a comment, because I clicked "follow". :) Hi!
ReplyDeletelove your sandals! happy new year!
ReplyDeleteLove the sweater....and your shoes!!! I wish I could offer some advice. I just got a coat that was too big and took it to this couple that does alterations. I haven't gotten it back yet, but I know people who have been happy with their work. Maybe you could find someone that does alterations?
ReplyDeleteI love that sweater sooo much! I need to get myself a whimsical sweater to wear if it ever gets cold around here...
