nothing like the smell of ocean air

welllllll, helllooooo beautifuls!
meet my new little friend, phineus the fish
last weekend tom and i took a little biking date to alameda and explored a bit more of this super cute little city. it is a few towns from where we live and it is an island which used to be a navy base for many years. it is so cute. we are actually looking to either rent or buy a home there.
our trip started off with super yummy burgers at a bar called lucky 13. we were really excited that we found it because we used to go to the lucky 13 in sf all the time. the bar had a photo booth which really put the icing the cake. i think they turned out really cute. tom is SO cute in the first picture, i just can't get over it.
the weather was a bit overcast and it had rained in the early morning so i came prepared. i got a bike rain cape!!!!! isn't she so pretty! it was lightly raining so i put her on. it is really awesome, the hood is perfect and the weight of the material is light and moves really well. it was on sale so i had to have it. i don't own a rain coat so i needed one.
after lunch we headed towards the coast. it was so foggy you couldn't see sf from the beach. it was actually really pretty, so white and eerie. it smelt so good too. we rode along the coast for a bit and then we happened to come across a bowling alley so tom and i decided to play a game.

after a round we got back on the road. the paved bike path ended so we did a little "mountain biking", not really but at times it felt like it. one thing about dirt/sand paths is when there is loose dirty you have to pick a path and ride right through it otherwise you can lose your handling and take a spill. i almost lost it but worked it out.

  11. Sounds like an awesome date! I love our coast... I spent some time in FL over Christmas, and their beaches are way better if you want to get in the water, but they don't compare to how gorgeous the pacific is. I hope you guys are able to live in Alameda someday soon!

  12. You both look cute in that first pic but my personal fave is the second one where you two look as if you two have just won the lottery. :)

  14. What a fun little date! If you move there, will it take longer for you to get to work in the mornings?

  15. @urban: i got my rain coat here while it was on sale http://ivajean.com/
@amber: i wish we won the lotto, we would TOTALLY be moving to alameda for sure!
@jordan: it is a bit closer by train but it will take me a bit longer to get to the train. so most likely the same amount of time but it would cost me a bit less ;D

  21. shut the front door! is that THE rain cape?! the one by Ann DeOtte???? i remember you commented about it when i posted my absolute adoration for the thing. who ever designed it makes no matter - it looks most excellent on you Cristie!!! and i've missed so much of your goings on, including a new blog design. LOVE the Navajo vibe and all the cool graphics you've added in.

terrific array of snaps here too, totally dig the photo booth fun, you two are freakin' adorable. getting down to the beach is something we need to implement also, thanks for the reminder. super late with my HNY wishes but still sending you many for a marvelous and awesome New Year!!!! here's+cheers to you - hope 2012 really rocks on for ya! if your swell pics are any indication, i'd say you got it in fine motion going forward into the next 11 months. xo ♥
