happy thursday everyone! i have been working very hard on my up coming show, lots of drawings and decisions on what to move forward with and what not to. Here are some shots of my most recent florals that i have been working on.
morning glories. vines are something i have been wanting to plant. always spreading their happiness wherever they go. i love seeing them growing on houses, columns and fences. they have such a beautiful way about them.
oh and daffodils! such happy plants. they remind me of the original willy wonka where he takes a "flower" off and drinks from it like tea and then bites into! oh man, favorite part of that movie. i really like when people eat in movies for some reason...
anywho, i am working on another painting and am also making a bunch of my chicky paintings :) lots of work to get done today!
xo,
cb
LOVE. the only thing i want more than a daffodil tea cup is a giant gummy bear tree. <3
ReplyDeleteI think you would also love vodka soaked gummi bears of which kelly anne will be making for my birthday!
Deletelovely paintings!
ReplyDeleteI love the sweets in that film but willy wonka always scared me! when they go through that tunnel eeeek! *shudders*
Thanks sarah that means the world to me coming from you! I could eat all the candy in that movie but yea willy was a lirtle creepy, he is suppose to be though...i think...
DeleteThe make-believe food they eat in Hook still makes my mouth water.
ReplyDeleteAnd lovely drawings, once again!
That is my favourite part of that movie. The beauty of that scene and the scene in Hook where they eat the made-up food are brilliant.
ReplyDeleteHook is another really awesome movie! I love that part too!
DeleteBeautiful! I love both of them, great colours and they look fresh and spring-y! :)

DeleteYou're so clever! i think i need a piece of your art in my life...but on my desk rather than my leg!
ReplyDeleteThanks kate! I thought you were going to copy the piece i made you and frame? But either way i would love to have a piece in your home!
DeleteThey look lovely! I love the Willie Wonka reference, classic. <3
ReplyDeleteoh! i LOVE the daffodils! they remind me of our garden while growing up :)
ReplyDelete-erin
You just made me want to go and watch that film again!
ReplyDeleteI made a little morning glory 1-inch pin recently as part of my vintage 1920s picture book series, only it had an imperfection so I won't be selling it... still cute though & if you send me your address I'd love to give it to you :) theowlclub {at} rocketmail {dot} com

Deletewill do :)
DeleteI love your flowers! Just like with the poppies, I can't wait until we can buy them in your shop!
ReplyDeleteThey may be up sooner then you think!
Deleteyou like it when people eat in movies? That is so random and makes me heart you even more.
ReplyDeleteYes truly! Like when they eat chinese food in beetlejuice or when alice eats the muschroom in alice in wonderland....so amazing!
Deletebeautiful! I especially love the daffodils :)

I love your daffodils and morning glories! Such great work! I can't wait to see how your show turns out! I wish I could come out for it! Will you be making prints to sell on etsy?
ReplyDeleteI think Morning Glories are illegal in Arizona... I think they're considered a hallucinogen or something weird like that. Which is odd, because they are so pretty.
I love watching people eat in movies, too! I always wanted a tea cup I could eat like Willy. Everything always looks so good in movies.... I love when Meryl Streep plays the part of Julia Child... everything she eats looks so yummy. I also like watching Carrie eat pizza in Sex in the City, because she makes it seem like the most delicious thing she's ever had.
really i never heard of morning glories being illegal because of that! i know the tree we have, the angel trumpet is not illegal but if you brew the leaves or something it makes a hallucinogenic tea...so interesting!
DeleteLookin' fab! And you never have to water!
ReplyDeleteDaffodils are my favorite flowers EXACTLY because of Willy Wonka! I just love them, they're so chipper!! <3
ReplyDeleteYour art is so gorgeous!
I love these flower illustrations too - so pretty. I have to admit I'm also a sucker for Willy Wonka eating the flower!
ReplyDeleteooooh, I would also love to have a creeping vine growing through my house! one that starts in a bottle of water....I have to research it some more. oh and the part I love in that movie is when he pulls one of mike tv's hairs out of his head!!!
ReplyDeleteThey look fantastic! You are such a talent! :) -Lo
ReplyDeleteLove the new paintings, so pretty and Spring in a picture.
ReplyDeletethat's my most favourite room in the chocolate factory, everything edible, sooo cool! xox
When you're done with the show, I want to buy the daffodil one from you! Or if you wanted to make another one :) haha. I love it!!!
ReplyDeletethanks kristi! the daffadil's did not make the cut so they will be going to my shop :) i am pricing all my floral designs $65 and i did paint the frame a different color as i was crazy about the white. it is not a tealish color and i think it looks great! if you are interested let me know and i can take a picture for you!
