ok..... it begins thursday after an afternoon of hanging out with my best friend who lives in boston. i got a typed out letter in the mail box stating: saturday morning at 8:30am i would expect a package. then friday night came. the creepiest phone call EVER! tells me the same message. now when i say creepy, i'm talking a scene from the movie scream, it was dark outside, late, the voice was uber strange & robotic sounding and the front door was slightly open, i thought i was gonna be attacked.
i didn't get a picture of this but at 8:30 am saturday morning, i received a little package at the front door: magazines, mad libs, pens, snacks, coffee and balloons. with that was my first clue of the day. (you can enlarge the image so you can read them. they are super cute and clever.)
from clue #1 i figured out that we were supposed to head over to my favorite breakfast place, emil villa's, for a yummy breakfast. to add to the surprise, my mom was there waiting for us! after breakfast she gave me clue #2.
which lead us to castro village bowl for, yup, you guessed, BOWLING! to my wonderful surprise, my best friend from boston and her fiance were there! awesome! we played a round of bowling and i achieved a score of over a hundred. to some that may not be impressive but i was pretty impressed with myself.
clue # 3 was handed to me and we were sent back home for the last and final clue. this one was pretty hard. you can see the clue here, where kelly, from tinytangerines, hacked her way into my blog and posted the last clue. my cousin's ipad was left on the front porch and the numbers on the post referred to cordiants, which lead to THRIFT TOWN! at this point i was a little scared, i thought someone was gonna pop out at every corner while shopping but it was just an awesome time spent thrifting where i scored this awesome yucatan bag (well tom found it for me; he is amazing!) it was perfect as my family is from the yucatan! it will make the perfect beach bag :D
there was lots & lots of face making involved throughout the night. some so scary they can't even be shared here :( we played trivial pursuit and then passed out in the early morning. the greatest birthday by far! i have some of the greatest friends i could ever ever ask for! a HUGE BIG ASS thanks to tracy & tom for making this day super duper special and the most memorable birthday yet!

ReplyDeletedid i tell you about the year i made like nine copies of my house key and was like "now you can access my apartment to throw me a surprise party!" and none of those assholes threw me a damn party, or made a scavenger hunt. i even had to buy my own birthday dinner and drinks!!! i hate everyone. not you though.
