born and raised in...

i love being from california. i am very proud of that fact. it is a magical place and i couldn't imagine being from anywhere else. california has helped shape who i am and when i think about that i think about what that means. so many wonderful environments from the beach to mountains to deserts and redwood forests. this is my newest piece and i am so so happy with it. it will be a pain to figure out what frame to put it in but i know when i do that day will be glorious and then i will mount it upon my wall. i am playing with different text over the quail and poppies. i am keeping the original so the california is permeant but i took a few pictures before i inked it and will be playing with some font in photoshop for the shop. any suggestions?

happy friday everyone and i hope you all have a great weekend. today is the first day of the tattoo expo. to say i am nervous is an understatement. will have lots to share i am sure!

  6. its a beauty! I know you love California but I think you could learn to love Connecticut. :) Actually now that I think about it I think I would have a better shot of loving California. This needs to happen someday. In the meantime have fun at the expo and try not to be nervous. I know you are gonna rock their socks off.

  9. This is beautiful! I love the quail and the flowers! I have been on the hunt for those oval shaped frames like you have and I can never find any anywhere! I love your artwork so much!

California is a magical place. I used to spend the entire summer in San Diego with my family and I just loved the beach and the environment. Even the air is better there.

It might be cool to use the kind of font from classic tattoos or use the font from the old school California travel post cards. Like this: http://www.zazzle.com/vintage_california_postcard-239740224272630801 or like this http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1883318491/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=badlit-20&linkCode=as2&camp=217145&creative=399369&creativeASIN=1883318491

    1. did i tell you where to get those frames? viking woodworks i think is the name. they are the plan ones i use for my other drawings. i love them. the font i used is the hells angels font, i thought it would be appropriate since they are cali based :)

  12. I've also really been feeling the state pride as of late. If you ever feel like making a Kentucky painting, you let me know. I'm collecting Kentucky pieces for an art wall, and I think a painting from you would be the icing on the cake!

  14. love it! the bright colors and flowers are just perfect & the text is a great contrast. Just visited family in Cali a few weeks ago and really fell in love (well, again)... might be our next big move in a few years (fingers crossed : )
