a peek into our annual bike camping trip

just a warning: this is a photodump, it was hard to narrow down what pictures i wanted to post so i hope you enjoy it as much as we did experiencing it!
tom is getting really good at taking pictures AND steering the bike
this may be my favorite picture we took!
home for 2 1/2 days. beautiful
a view from the drivers side
getting dominated at dominoes, aren't you suppose to let the lady win?
sipping beer and picking berries
wearing my vintage bathing suit. this ones for you sarah!
that is just what we did

our trip was excellent, maybe the best yet. the weather was superb, no one tried to kill us with their huge cars, we had two great nights meeting the other bikers and hikers who were staying at the same site, had a delicious breakfast at the pine cone diner, practiced and even dominated skipping rocks, got a bit of a tan, wore my new vintage bathing suit, played dominoes and lost (i will get my revenge!!), saw a fox but didn't take a picture, saw & heard a raccoon fight and lastly, tom and i are planning a longer bike camping tour for next year. so excited and living in the bliss that was 2 1/2 days with my best friend and our bike. what could be better?

oh, did i mention i start work today? what a great way to end an impromptu vacation!

a sweet farewell

what a trip!! a bittersweet, but glorious trip that tom and i will treasure forever! we were a bit worried about the weather as the day before we left it rained(wft!?!?) well it was a light rain but rain nonetheless. we were going rain or shine and hoping for the latter. we woke up to fog and sf was full of dewy wetness. this is what most of the ride through sf and part of marin looked like.

we stopped at one of our favorite coffee place and had some espresso and my favorite: mexican wedding cookies!

in case you all were wondered what i looked like with my helmet on, super sexy
then about and an hour & a half into the ride the sun came out to play and just in time for the huge hill we had to climb. thanks sun! hehe
this is the way into the park, so so gorgeous! the weather was much nicer then last time which was a bit hard to believe.

i had to show you guys what gilbert looked like, we kept calling it the vagabond because we had sooo much stuff piled on the back. we really need to get front bags so we aren't so janky while on our next mini bike tour.

we set up camp in the same spot we had last time, yay and set up some food for bob. which worked but damn he is sooo fast!!! we had our camera on us the entire time and he is as quick as lightening!

this is one of my favorite pictures. this picture looks like it came from the 70's
tom found this rock amongst the millions of other rocks, reminded me of wilson from castaway
view of where we spent most of our time this trip
my all time favorite camping buddy <3
brainwaves!!!!!
we headed down to the creek for some sun and drinks. this is basically all we did this weekend but got another ride in on saturday. on our way back from the coast saturday we stopped at a rummage sale and tom bought a little radio. for some reason it worked perfectly when the antenae was on my forehead, i've got some pretty powerful brain waves :)

i'm not sure exactly what i am saying in this picture but i just love it!
the water was a bit cold and i was way to chicken to get in but i loved searching for rocks and looking at all the tiny little fish that nipped at my feet and toes.

this ones for you shannon!
a little bit of us was left behind <3
we had such a great time and we will surely miss this awesome spot but we will be back even if we have to ninja camp here!

camping baby, camping

gilbert, fully loaded
hope everyone had a great weekend cause we sure did! summer is truly not summer until a camping trip is made and one to the redwood forest of california to be exact! like i said in my last post we woke up really early, 5:30 which nobody should really be up that early but we had to if we wanted to get to the train on time to san francisco and then get on the golden gate bridge before the tourists did. biking on the golden gate bridge with hoards of people is really hard and since the bike side of the bridge is closed everyone is forced to share.

we made a pit stop once we got into saulsalito at the our favorite little restaurant cibo and ordered some paninis & espresso and then rolled out.
the ride there was so nice and it was getting hotter as the minutes ticked by. when it got time for us to climb the last, long, big hill it was almost 80 degrees out... the one thing to remember about climbing a hill is that once you reach the peak it is all down hill and man did that breeze feel so good.

our home for 2 nights <3
this particular park that we camped at has a biker & hiker camp site so it is first come first serve and a communal space. we were the first to arrive that day and picked out the best spot! we had our very own redwood lair to call home for the next two days.
man was this place gorgeous! the trees are so tall and everything was so green and the smell was outstanding. it felt so good to take a deep breath of that cool redwood air. and to look up and just see trees and wonder how old some of the trees were. some of them were huge and to have gotten that big they must have been hundreds of years old.
this park was perfect! they had hot showers which after the sweaty & hot ride there was like a dream to to able to wash away all the salt and sunscreen.
we then headed to the creek and hung out there for a while and i watched the mister skip rocks. we then headed back home to our redwood grove, started a fire, ate a nice light dinner and made some jiffy pop which took FOREVER to pop but it finally did and it was oh so yummy. other bikers came and we made friends and chit chatted with them by the fire.
the mister lookin' good
saturday we slept-in which can be really hard while camping but it was so dark in our redwood lair that every time i woke up i kept thinking it was too early then would roll over and continue to cuddle with the mister. finally when we did wake up everyone was gone. we packed up a bit and headed to the coast to a little town called point reyes station. the town is so cute and full of bikers all making a pit stop at the famous bovine bakery. we sat on this really cool tree bench and shot-the-shit about our future and the plans we want for our lives. we had such a great time <3
we headed back and laid by the creek, read & drank some beers. we both felt a little sun kissed so we headed back home, drank a box of wine, and called it an early night. we woke up super early again and packed our bags and made the long trek home. it was such a great ride home with barely any cars on the road.

we were a bit sad to come home after spending such a wonderful weekend with nature and enjoying a park that in 1 year will be closed due to california being so damn broke. we have plans to go again in a couple of weeks. we want to take as much advantage while we still can. plus i really need to see bob the chipmunk who we made friends with one last time! sorry no picture of bob, he was so darn fast!
when we got home the mister did a google map of our route and our entire trip we did over 80 miles and plenty of that was uphill....boo-yay!!! when he said that i felt like wonder woman!!! i'm lovin' my muscular gams :D

until next time!
