hope everyone had a great weekend cause we sure did! summer is truly not summer until a camping trip is made and one to the redwood forest of california to be exact! like i said in my last post we woke up really early, 5:30 which nobody should really be up that early but we had to if we wanted to get to the train on time to san francisco and then get on the golden gate bridge before the tourists did. biking on the golden gate bridge with hoards of people is really hard and since the bike side of the bridge is closed everyone is forced to share.
we made a pit stop once we got into saulsalito at the our favorite little restaurant cibo and ordered some paninis & espresso and then rolled out.
the ride there was so nice and it was getting hotter as the minutes ticked by. when it got time for us to climb the last, long, big hill it was almost 80 degrees out... the one thing to remember about climbing a hill is that once you reach the peak it is all down hill and man did that breeze feel so good.

| our home for 2 nights <3 |
this particular park that we camped at has a biker & hiker camp site so it is first come first serve and a communal space. we were the first to arrive that day and picked out the best spot! we had our very own redwood lair to call home for the next two days.
man was this place gorgeous! the trees are so tall and everything was so green and the smell was outstanding. it felt so good to take a deep breath of that cool redwood air. and to look up and just see trees and wonder how old some of the trees were. some of them were huge and to have gotten that big they must have been hundreds of years old.
this park was perfect! they had hot showers which after the sweaty & hot ride there was like a dream to to able to wash away all the salt and sunscreen.
we then headed to the creek and hung out there for a while and i watched the mister skip rocks. we then headed back home to our redwood grove, started a fire, ate a nice light dinner and made some jiffy pop which took FOREVER to pop but it finally did and it was oh so yummy. other bikers came and we made friends and chit chatted with them by the fire.

| the mister lookin' good |
saturday we slept-in which can be really hard while camping but it was so dark in our redwood lair that every time i woke up i kept thinking it was too early then would roll over and continue to cuddle with the mister. finally when we did wake up everyone was gone. we packed up a bit and headed to the coast to a little town called point reyes station. the town is so cute and full of bikers all making a pit stop at the famous bovine bakery. we sat on this really cool tree bench and shot-the-shit about our future and the plans we want for our lives. we had such a great time <3
we headed back and laid by the creek, read & drank some beers. we both felt a little sun kissed so we headed back home, drank a box of wine, and called it an early night. we woke up super early again and packed our bags and made the long trek home. it was such a great ride home with barely any cars on the road.
we were a bit sad to come home after spending such a wonderful weekend with nature and enjoying a park that in 1 year will be closed due to california being so damn broke. we have plans to go again in a couple of weeks. we want to take as much advantage while we still can. plus i really need to see bob the chipmunk who we made friends with one last time! sorry no picture of bob, he was so darn fast!
when we got home the mister did a google map of our route and our entire trip we did over 80 miles and plenty of that was uphill....boo-yay!!! when he said that i felt like wonder woman!!! i'm lovin' my muscular gams :D
until next time!
