the art exhibit is being held from oct. 8th to nov.14th...i am not sure how long this has been going on as this will be our second halloween here and we missed the exhibit last year and we were super bummed. i was so excited to go because the meek mansion is never open to the public. the mister didn't go as he went on a bike journey so i can't wait to go again and go at night to get the whole effect!
independent artist...i was so impressed, i thought they did a great job and i especially love the "stained glass" art the best! made me want to go home and whip something up...perhaps next weekend!

later that night we went over my cousin's house and we carved pumpkins till the early morning! i did an owl and the mister did a GREAT day of the dead skull! here they are at home in front of our little casa :D it was a PERFECT fall day!

ReplyDeleteFavourites are def the windows (love the take on church windows) & love the painting of the couple, and the altars are lovely. (one of my favourite pc games is Grim Fandango which looks lovely, I'd would love to be in Mexico for DOD)

ReplyDeleteWhat a delightful weekend! I used to love going to the Day of the Dead parade when I lived in Tucson, AZ. Nothing really like that here in the Midwest. And your pumpkins are too cute!
ReplyDeleteI am so jealous! All of the art is gorgeous. I have a cute pair of day of the dead skulls from mexico I got on my honeymoon...definitely one of my fav souvenirs.

ReplyDeletemy favorite fall days are those when I get to walk around downtown and it's chilly and you get to bundle up with scarves and nice cozy jackets and a good warm drink in hand ^^
thanks ya'll for the comments on our pumpkins! i found my design on line so i cheated but the mister is just so creative that he came up with his on his own...isn't he AMAZING!

I don't think so.. But I know what you mean. Then again, I've only read about 40 pages. But as of right now it's not. It's quite entertaining. :)

ReplyDeleteAhhhh so awesome! I love Dia De Los Muertos! My mom had her 6th grade class make an alter for it; it was a little early but she had them paint gourds too, which were getting mushy! She's also getting a d.d.l.muertos skeleton and dog skeleton tattoo! ;) Annnnd.... I think you'll be psyched about my giveaway since your a Dia fan too (hint hint ;) )! Love the stained glass pieces too!

ReplyDeleteThose pumpkins are great! Much better than I can ever do. Mine always just end up being the traditional large mouth with one tooth and big eyes...I get impatient with it. haha! Glad you had such a nice day!
