a diy project! part 1

hi cuties!
if you are like me a crafter, thrifter & a compulsive buyer, ok lets face it a fabric hoarder then you have an endless supplies of crafting supplies that you just end up with. i usually keep all my scraps, not wanting to waste anything and thinking that it could be used for something. years later i find those scraps still laying around unused. sometimes i have more then just a scrap of something i used on a previous project and i am at a loss at what to do with it, until......

aaaaahhha! i thought of my 3 part diy project using this really really cute floral lace, i bought so many moons ago! so get ready for a 3 part diy project using the same material, hope you enjoy!
diy part 1: flower child headband

here is what you need:
1. needle and white thread
2. one hook and eye
3. lace!
oh and a kitty of course...that is very very essential to this diy :) hehehe, isn't she so cute with her little evil eyes!

step one.
i had a bunch of this lace left over from another project so i had lots to play with. first measure your head either with a measuring tap or i just did it with the actual lace. cut the lace where you like it. i tend to like my headbands to be a little loose so it lays nicely over my hair.

step two.
grab your needle, thread and hook and sew the hook to the backside end of the lace. next sew the eye to the other end on the frontside of the lace. this how it should look when you are finished:

and then you're done, now to see how it looks!!

i have been sporting this ever since i made it and i just love it! it is easy to add to any outfit and can be easily worn into the fall too! stay tuned for next weeks part 2!

p.s. i have a great citybirds chirp for tomorrow. i am off camping for the rest of weekend with my ladies. have a great weekend everyone!!

  3. That is so so pretty! What a smart idea! I always end up with a ton of fabric scraps too, and I was going to make them into a quilt, but now I don't have to which is great because quilts seem hard. I want cute headbands a'plenty! :)

    Have a great weekend, sweetie!
