what i wore: 90's girl

hi and happy monday everyone!
hope you all enjoyed your weekend. tom and i finally used our minolta camera this weekend and have a few more shots to take so will share them soon. i am really excited. it feels like we haven't gotten film in so long although we did when we went surfing but it just is never enough :)

i wore this outfit to work on saturday. this such an easy dress to throw on and sometimes you need something like this in your closet, kinda mindless you know?  i wore it here on a super hot day in february a year ago while scoping out treasures at the alameda flea market, man i hate working on sunday! i need to get one off so i can treasure hunt again!
this dress reminds me of the 90's and mostly because of the big brown plaid and of course it is made of flannel plus with the combination of the knee high socks, black boots and daisy hair clip it definitely screams a modern 90's in my book.

after work i raced back to my side of pond where my cousin & tom picked me and we headed over to my grandparents to surprise them with food and a game night. i had told them that tom and i were just coming over but didn't tell them the rest of our family was showing up. it was like a holiday gather but for no other reason then to hang out with our grandparents. we played catch phrase, scattergories, ate pizza and dined on the yummiest chocolate chip cookies that my cousin in law made.

it was a lot of fun and i was happy that it made my grandparents, who i feel i don't get to see enough, really happy. when i told them were coming i told them it was a secret and couldn't tell her what was happening. of course the moment i got off the phone i thought "oh geesh, she is thinking either tom and i are having a baby or buying a house" well, neither of those things are true at the moment but i could tell it still made their entire weekend. i love scheming, especially when the pay off is rewarding like this one. i think next time it will be a puzzle night!

what schemes what you concocted that turned out to be rewarding?

  3. that dress is awesome! good thing i don't live in your neighborhood or i'd sneak in your closet and borrow it for life. your time with your family sounds like so much fun, and it's always nice to get together even when there isn't a holiday :)

  6. I LOVE the outfit, it's gorgeous (brown is prob my most favourite colour) & you're right, it does hark back to the (better part of) the 90s :) very cute!

Sounds like a wonderful weekend! And how lovely for your grandparents to having you all there, I'm sure they loved it too. Days like that can be so few & far between now we all have such busy lives & whenever I get an odd day wh my parents like that I cherish it :) as I'm sure you do. But I know what you mean, even now, whenever we say we've got something to tell them, or try to arrange something secretive, they always jump to the (VERY) wrong conclusion, ha ha.

We often arrange something of a surprise for my parents birthdays, usually family-related too & it's always well received :D xox

    1. hah yes the better parts of the 90's! i am currently watching melrose place which from 1992-1998 and the fashion is soooo horrible! well some of it. a lot of horrible denim, baggy in all the wrong places. i hope one day i can go to them with one of those exciting secrets, the house being the one that would be a bit more doable at the moment :D

  12. Love the outfit and the daisy definitely 90's! Glad to hear your surprise turned out great. My friend and I planned our friends 20th birthday surprise and it turned out great. My friend thought she was just going to eat out with a few people (we told some of the other people to say that they had to work or couldn't make it) We had a few say that could make it but would drive themselves and I told her that I would meet her at the other friend's (the one who planned and helped) house so we could ride together. We got everyone to move their car behind except mine, had decorations, pizza, and cake. When she came in she was so surprised because everyone was there. It was so fun planning!

  21. you know what my 1st thought here is...and embarrassingly so, how great your skin looks. weird? well, it does Cristie, you've got this lovely glow about you and one that reminds me to get outdoors more cos my pale, sallow skin is in need of some vit D power. yipes, well TMI? hope not ; )

your biking ensemble is adorable, love the plaid and little daisy hair addition. glad to hear you're both enjoying the film so much, that's rad. your grandparents must have lost it when you all showed up, kinda makes my heart melt. very sweet - scheme on lades! xo ♥

  22. I was in high school in the 90s, and I am pretty sure I had this outfit. But, I wore a huge chiffon bow in my hair instead of a daisy. Thanks for this post, it brought back a lot of memories!
