don't think i know what your thinking?!?! you dirty birds! haha...but seriously, sorry, to disappoint, there will be no nude surfing pictures ;D maybe another time...hmmm right...hehe. anywho, tom and i woke up early morning friday, hopped in our little bug and drove to an oh so secret spot called bolinas which is about an hour and a half drive from home. why is it secret? who knows but the locals sure as hell don't want anyone to know about it. most of the signs are taken down so you would have no clue about the place but if you do...it is kinda nice.
before our excursion into the sea tom needed to get some banana fuel and while at the cash register i saw this banana flavored tootsie pop!?!?! it tasted like a banana chip which didn't float my boat so tom got to enjoy it instead, either way i was super excited to see a new flavor.
the waves were perfect and small. they could have used a bit more umph but it was really really fun. it was my first time surfing at this spot and i hadn't been there in 10 years. i think it is my new favorite spot :) HOWEVER, while surfing, we caught a glimpe of a black fin! boy did my heart start racing! but living by the coast and surfing you quickly learn what type of fin to look out for and this was some kind of porpoise but still it still makes you want to run out of the water screaming.
after our session we dressed and walked along the coast enjoying the beautiful beach.
we both were starving so we headed to the marshall store and gobbled up oysters and fish tacos, twas extremely good and hit the spot.
we found a super cheap hotel and plan on making a wonderful weekend by the sea sometime in the very very near future.
xo,
cb
I love the fish painted on the sidewalk. I wonder how badly my dad would kill me if I did something similar on the sidewalk here. ha. I'm glad you had such a lovely day!
ReplyDeletei know that was my favorite part! they also had it by the bathrooms too! you should totally do something like this, it would be so easy! a stencil and spray paint and BAM your done!
DeleteIt looks gorgeous - what a wonderful spot and a fantastic day. This makes me want to pack up and move to the Pacific coast stat.
ReplyDeletei don't think i could ever not live by the sea. we were meant to be close <3
DeleteOh good lord! Fins! I don't think I'll ever be brave enough to surf for that reason. Those oyster look bomb!
ReplyDeletei know it was crazy but it was a sloped fin which is a good sign, none of that straight up fin, noooooo bueno!
DeleteAwesome pictures! Secret spots are the best.
ReplyDeleteI'm on Venice Beach today and at last the sun is shining... yesterday we had torrential rain! Not quite how I'd pictured Venice somehow. This morning I saw a bunch of little stalls setting up but when I went over to look they were props on a film set. LA, haha!
i know you came when we are getting lots of rain! but normally la it is always sunny and warm! i love seeing films being made, it is always so cool. i wonder what they were shooting! hope your having a great time!
DeleteI know, it was so weird to see Venice Beach like that! Glad I saw it in the sunshine too (finally!) I have no idea what the film was but we also saw another shoot on Sunday - a friend was making a film in a gallery in Santa Monica, so I got to find out what film shoots are like!
DeleteLooks like so much fun! All of your beach posts make me wish I was visiting California this year :(
ReplyDeleteThose tacos look delish! I posted about some tacos I had this weekend too. haha! Two peas in a pod, us bloggers.
you should come over and we can go eat some yummy tacos together!!!
Deletenudie surfing! Thats awesome although that water looks way cold and I am sure that would cause shrinkage....heheh. I have never seen a banana flavored tootsie pop before. I am a cherry flavor lover myself. To each his own. I dont know how you refrained from having heart attack when you saw that fin. I think I would have started to cry. Actually that would have never happened to me because I am too scared to get in the water. PS I need to hear more about this sleep inducing activity?!?
ReplyDeleteyea it would be awesome and freeing but then at the same time, you would get wax where you didn't really want to get wax, no what i mean! hehe i love the cherry or the chocolate or blueberry, that one is yummy1
Deletep.s. what i speak of is green :D
oh man! those oysters look ah-mazing!!!! what is that saucy stuff they are served with? looks like cilantro!!! mmmm!!!
ReplyDeleteoh they were yummy and i want to re-eat them all over again! the sauce on the side was vinegar with onions, cilantro, and some type of pepper, it was delicious!
Deletei'm so jealous that you have so much ocean around. i know this sounds weird, but i've really been craving just being near water and there is squat where we live (yet there is a boat store). just one of the many reasons i need to move!!! <3
ReplyDeletethat is why you need to come to me! maybe some fresh sea air will do you some good! i just know it would!
Deleteguess what i got in the mail yesterday! they are so perfect! i love them! xoxoxoxox
It looks like such a sweet day. :) Snag some hot nekkid surfer pics next time though, please? ;)
ReplyDeletehaha next time i will, just for you. hehehe
DeleteI am totally a dirt bird! I was thinking, "ooo... sexy!!" Haha!
ReplyDeleteThis looks like a wonderful day! Those fish tacos look like something to live for! I love this little taco joint in San Diego, but those tacos you had look divine!
Did you keep the seashells?
aah your a dirty bird! hehe
Deleteno i didn't keep the shells, i learned from a young age that what lives at the beach, stays at the beach :)
It sounds like a fun little trip! Such a pretty beach, and I love the mermaid gate :)
ReplyDeletei know isn't that gate so cute! behind the gate also looked like a killer secret garden, it was so beautiful! i place i would LOVE to live for sure!
DeleteThat beach is beautiful :) and I love your hoodie! So cute! :)
ReplyDeletelooks like an awesome spot!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you guys had a good time and made it there (and home) in one piece!
ReplyDeletealso, I want those oysters in my tummy.
and I wish you were here to do some rump shaking with me! I can't to the crew challenges without you!
oh my god kelly i had butterflies in my tummy the entire time! but now we are using a surf rack for the boards and they do sooo much better. so yay!
Deletei know i want those oysters in my tummy too! i could eat sushi and oysters for the rest of my life and be the happiest girl ever!
yea i need to get my booty shake on, like stat! right now i am dancing while vacuuming at work! pretty good work out :D LOVE YOU!
it sounds fab (except for the fin part, eek!) & yum, fish tacos! It's always so great to find somewhere special that not many people know about :) hope you get back there again soon xox
ReplyDeleteLooks like a a lovely time!! Can't wait to see pics of you surfing!! ;]
ReplyDeleteUm... seeing a fin would definitely scare the crap outta me. You live in the best place! It looks like you have so many fun things to do around you and I'm way jealous of your beach proximity :) Love your sweatshirt!
ReplyDeletesurfing is so amazing and i'm sure it's even more fun nude...pretty awesome! aww i love bolinas, josh and i were driving down the coast and got lost there. i insisted we sleep in the car and not get a hotel room, it was a pretty cold and uncomfortable night but in the morning we walked on the beach and there was pretty much no one around such a quaint little town. those fish tacos look so yummy! glad your doing well and packing in the weekend with great fun!
