what i wore: badass ballerina...sort of...

hehe. well, not really a badass ballerina but it was more of a feeling, really. i think mostly the messy bun with the black bow.  and can i say, this is my new favorite hair do, especially on those "even my own hair hates" me kinda of days.

i thought i would try channeling some of my ballet lessons i took when i was a wee small child but it wasn't really working. i blame the boots and trying to balance my bike.... right.
i thrifted this dress a while ago and have had a hard time pairing it with other things like cardigans. the dress loses it's shape and i just wasn't diggin' the look. what i need to complete my badass ballerina look is a super awesome cropped faux leather jacket! i am having a hard time spotting one. anyone seen one they can point me to??????
details:
dress: thrifted
boots: vintage; thrifted
rings: f21 & ebay (sorry forgot the shop i bought it from!)

so i had this whole huge rant paragraph dedicated to my gym and how children shouldn't be playing in the lap lanes while people are trying to swim laps but blogger decided to take a dump right before i published and it erased my entire post. now i lost steam. ugh. oh, well. i am just glad i don't pay to use the gym.

  1. I love that frock on you - looks great! Could you wear it with a cropped cardy rather than a cropped biker jacket, may be easier to find one:D I love your hair up too - I was looking back on some old photos when I had longer hair and I really want longer hair again, but I just don't know if I'll actually grow it!

  4. That is a very lovely dress! Many moons ago when I had long hair, buns always made me feel like a ballerina, too.

    1. so funny that buns make us feel that way. why not an amish person because they often wear their hair in buns. maybe a ballerina is a bit cooler then an amish person? hehe

  6. I think you look bad ass. You could totally kick my ass.

PS I totally agree with Alicia. I mean kids are cute and all but I dont want to be bothered. Actually what really needs to happen is parents need to learn to control their kids.

yes kids can be cute but a vast majority of them are horrible and i blame their parents!

  7. :) I totally get what you mean about badass ballerina, cute & badass (& yep it can be a feeling). Love the hair too; I like when I wear my hair completely off my face, but sometimes I need the comfort of hair around me too (if you know what I mean)!
PS I'm with Alicia & Amber! Discipline people :D xox

    1. i totally agree with you too! i am liking my hair off my face recently but like today i needed my bangs. i guess having versatile hair is great! oh man some parents really need to just get with the program and discipline their kids, it is insane what some parents let their kids do!

  8. Love this look, the dress looks great with those boots! I bought a green dress at a vintage shop with the EXACT same cut- high neckline, stitching, everything. I wonder if it's the same dress!

  9. I love the brown/black as well as the soft dress/tough boots look lady. Oh no sorry your post got lost. I'm surprised they don't block off a section for kids or reserve lanes for swimmers and really enforce it. Glad you feel better though.

  11. lmao @ "I'm just glad I don't pay to use the gym." :) I have a thing about unattended children or wild ass children. I'm convinced folks fully expect other people to babysit or tolerate their children's misbehavior. Oy. Anyway! You look cute and I'm so jelly about those boots. My friend wants to do a photo shoot with me that is sort of like an alter ego type thing. My goal in life is to look and feel like a cupcake. She wants to go all grunge. Needless to say I don't have any suitable footwear so I've been on the lookout while thrifting. Hopefully I find something soon!
