happy little things #14

hello! today is my last day of my 6 day work week, FINALLY! i am not sure what the rest of the week holds for me. i know for sure i have tuesday off but not sure if i have to work wednesday or thursday. i hate that feeling of uncertainty. oh well, i will just go with the flow. embrace my last day out of 6 days and just enjoy the day i know i will have off.
this was our very first piece we bought, back 6 years ago.
we found the fabric at the thrift store and then i found the frame to fit
thrifted, it is perfectly made, this artist was AMAZINGLY skilled :)
my mom got this for me while in mexico and we found the frame at a thrift store. match made in heaven!
okay, on to the good stuff. i LOVE wall embroidery art. raise your hand if you feel me....! i gravitate towards it. you can see the time someone spent making it and i love the 3D aspect of it. i usually always always have my eye out for them while shopping and have trained tom to do the same. we have been very lucky with what we have found while thrifting. here are a few that i love and have already hanging in the house.
this one i found a few weekends ago while thrifting with my cousin-in-law and sister-in-law. i love it so much and have not hung it up yet. i have been a bit lazy as we don't have a perfect place for it so we have to move some things around in order to give it a home. it will most likely go in our bedroom where i have kinda kept all of our floral embroidery. makes me feel like we are sleeping in a little handmade garden :)

  1. Hooray for the last day of a 6 day stretch! I am so glad you get to enjoy a day off tomorrow!

I am raising both hands because you know I love me some embroidery! I adore all your pieces. What great finds! I absolutely adore the one your mom brought you from Mexico.

I wish I had your luck with picture frames. All the ones I find while thrifting are always too jacked up to save.

  3. I have just started collecting some vintage needlepoint pieces. There is something so great about knowing the energy and love the makers put into the pieces! I am a little worried that between my own works and those I find thirsting, my walls won't be able to hold all the stitched goodness! That last embroidered piece is just perfectly lovely!

  17. all that embroidery is just perfect! Until recently (thanks to blogs like yours) I never would have even thought of having any in my home but now I'm going crazy for it and not having any luck w/ the thrifting. I loove the colorful Mexican number up there, J & I are still beating ourselves up for passing that up in Mexico last year. also you've found some great frames, I have a tough time finding ones in good shape sometimes.
