i think everyday should be a food festival, is that too much to ask? i mean
really. friday was a spectacular day. it truly was. we slept in, made some grits for breakfast and then headed over to the
eat real food festival.

yes please! how amazing is this idea!! |
|
love that they used a shipping container, so wise. |
|
you also get to keep the mason jar! |
first thing we did was scope out what was available. there were tons of stalls and i plan on buying that mushroom kit because mushrooms are my most favorite! there were sooo many yummy options but we weeded out the food trucks that we had already eaten at. once we did that we made a bee line to the beer and wine stalls to get ourselves some beer!
|
no, those are not boogers,. its my septum, retainer, which is actually no more, i got a hoop put in! |
|
**love** |
|
best damn gyro i have ever had the pleasure of putting in my mouth hole. ooh mama, that sounds dirty! hehe |
|
you canadians.....genius! |
|
so happy, so full |
we made sure to bring a blanket so that we could enjoy ourselves and relax in the warm sun and listen to the band play some great tunes. finally, we got hungry or should i say, we needed to soak up some of the booze we were drinking, so we headed to a stall called the whole beast and got a lamb gyro (holy shit, so good!) and lamb poutine (them canadians really know how to eat french fries!
alicia, i have a new love for your home land!!!!! lamb gravy on everything!!!!!!)
after filling up on the most delicious food, i needed to satisfy my sweet tooth, so we packed up and got some ice cream. coffee flavored, booyah! a great way to end a food festival, although i think i could have eaten, like 10 more scoops of that ice cream. sooo good.
what were you up to this weekend?
xo,
cb
Food festivals are so much fun! I would love to grow my own mushrooms, such a great idea :)
ReplyDeletei know i can't wait to get that kit!
DeleteOh YUM! Looks amazing!
ReplyDeleteMannn I LOVE Food festivals!! Living on the NJ Shore we actually have lots of them. Normally right on the boardwalk! Seafood, Italian, you name it! The one thing I have been talking about for YEARS that I've never gotten... those giant turkey legs...that look something a King would have in hand while making demands. I vow to get one! :) Ohh gosh and in NYC at the Italian festival we allllways get this amaaazing thing called a Mozzarepa... Mozzarella cheese melted between these two ammmazingly buttery yet sweet corn cakes! Ahh it's so so good! :) Oink!!
ReplyDeleteThis weekend was lots of catch up with work...but the weather was lovely and there were pumpkin doughnuts! :)
all those festivals sound amazing! jersey knows where it is at! i want to go to all of those festivals. that mozzarpa sounds AMAZING!! i want to try!
Deletenow THAT is FOOD! Asheville needs to take note of this food festival and start serving lamb gyros on every corner. Also Connecticut needs to start serving lamb gyros on every corner or at least serve them at the corner of my street. Oh man I am hungry now. Like Homer Simpson drooling hungry.
ReplyDeletea lot of places need to take note!! gyros really should be sold on every street corner so that everyday i can grab on as i ride by. the world would be a better place because of it!
DeleteThis looks like so much fun! I love the shipping container food place, and the mushroom kit sounds awesome. I'd love to hear how that goes if you decide to buy it. This made me so hungry!
ReplyDeletethe shipping container was awesome and so clever. a great way to upcycle something!
Deletepoutine is the world's most perfect food! i can't vouch for the authenticity of those cheese curds, but it looks pretty delicious! i love the taste of ketchup mingling with the gravy... WANT!!! and yes, we put gravy on everything. <3 <3 <3
ReplyDeletei can think of nothing else but poutine! i want it everyday in my mouth!
DeleteAHHHHhhh! All that food looks good. MMMM gyros are delish!
ReplyDeleteI love mushrooms, too! That kit is awesome. I am going to have to order one.
That food festival looked like a ton of fun! I love the mason jars, too!
Mmmm... now I am hungry...
i know i want a kit too! i hope i can order one soon!
DeleteLooks like a great time! I've seen those mushroom boxes around, might have to try my hand at growing something :)
ReplyDeleteif you do let me know how it goes, they are inside kits but i asked the guy if we could grow them outside. our cat would probably eat them :)
DeleteThat looks like such a great time! Last weekend I went to the farmer's market in Livermore for dinner with my sister and her family. It was pretty fun, then we went to a 24 hr. donut place - which was freaking awesome. I could eat donuts everyday. YUM!
ReplyDeleteOh that all looks amazing, I'm so hungry right now I can't tell you, I can almost smell it!
ReplyDeleteSadly we have to go quite a long way (car-wise) to find anywhere great to eat, with only generic food places nearby, however we have a rocking Chinese takeaway just up the road - we just have to make sure we don't eat there too often :D - boy does it smell good in our back garden though (there's also an Indian restaurant over the road). (pleased to finally have our internet back to catch up with you!!!) xox
OH my. I love food festivals, I have never found one with macaroni and cheese though, amazing! I tried Ricards Cardigan for the first time this weekend, it has a fantastic cinnamon aftertaste that's perfect for fall!
ReplyDeleteCute outfit-love the cardigan-super cute!
Food and beer, sounds like my kind of festival!! Yum! I'd have a hard time choosing what to try.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE festivals like this and don't get to go to them nearly enough. This sounds like a perfect day and you were wearing a perfect outfit :)
ReplyDeleteOh this looks like fab fun! You look so relaxed and happy (love your pretty frock!). I really love these pics of your town/life. Sarah xxx
ReplyDeleteI LUV food festivals, they're the best festivals hands down! You look so cute in your blue skirt as well. I have seen that mushroom kit here too, have been tempted to buy one but my friend did and it got mouldy and she had to throw it away... but maybe she was just crap at keeping it :)
