the greatest american sport

image
baseball. i grew up loving baseball, playing it, collecting cards and going to games. when i got older i  strayed away from it. i still loved it but it wasnt a huge part of my life anymore. when we moved back to the bay area 7 years ago, i became a fan again and no,  not a giants fan. to be more specific, an A's fan. we have been listening to the games for 7 years, yes listening, there is nothing sweeter then listening to the game over the radio, really. Try it, you might like it.

this year was a turning point for me. anyone who has watched the team this year knows, can feel it. this team is what baseball was made for. they know the game, love the game and it shows. this was the year that baseball touched my heart and i can say for the first time truly, that baseball is one of the greatest sports. i have never been so proud of a group of guys before. they played with so much heart and soul, brought laughter to the stadium and not to mention a dance AND a song. they brought people together and made people proud to be A's fans. this team, for those who dont know, is basically made up of rookies and players who were put in positions new to them and they excelled, they kicked ass. they were the the underdogs of this game and even though they didnt win the world series, they made this game exciting and made what baseball truly is about. thank you A's for the most wonderful season i have ever had the pleasure of being a part of.

Play ball.

  2. I don't know much about the A's, but I definitely love a good baseball game! Rhett and I are huge Braves fans. This year was kind of sad since it was Chipper's last season...I wish they would have made the playoffs. Anyway, love this post! I wish we could go to a ballgame together!

  3. I love baseball, too! Even though I'm a die hard Detroit Tigers fan, it's hard to deny how incredible the A's series was. I was absolutely rooting for them until the ALDS. They had an amazing season and all baseball fans, regardless of whether or not they are "your team" should be proud of what they accomplished.

  4. I wish baseball was a "thing" over here in England. My Uncle sent me an Ohio State Buckey's Tee-Shirt when I was little and I've kept it all these years :)

  8. David and I listened to ALDS game 2 on the radio while laying in bed because they weren't playing on tv and I loved it (minus the loss). I'm really happy to see that another blogger loves baseball (and more specifically, the A's) and hope we can go to a game together next season! My heart is seriously swollen with pride but melting with sadness now that the season is over. Still proud of them, though. I'm just gonna go do the Bernie or something to relive the season xoxo

  9. Love this post!! I love baseball as well, so much that I have been a season ticket holder for a little while now. Many people say it is the most boring sport in the world, but I beg to differ. I love what baseball season represents {to me at least} great weather, great times.... I mean, what is better than baseball + beer + time with my cuteness?? Not much really!
On another note, the A's have always been one of my fave teams, but you know I have to root for my Rangers!!
My favorite teams are out of the race now, but still watching to see who will win the World Series!!

    1. so jealous that you are a season ticket holder! i would love to have those! the one game we were able to go to this year we sat behind the cutest couple who has been going to every game for the past 20 years. they were so stinking cute and all geared up in a's stuff and all the staff that walked by them all knew them by name and sat there and chatted with them. so cool how baseball brings people together! yea it will be interesting to see who goes this year!

  10. it sounds so awesome - one of the things I've always wanted to do when we visit the US is go to a baseball game and a football game, yet wherever we are, their teams are always playing away! One day it WILL happen, and I know I'll love it :D xox

  12. If you love baseball and the A's then I definitely recommend you watch Moneyball. The movie shows how the team pretty much changed how baseball players were drafted and all the money and politics involved. Its got some awesome acting by brad pitt, phillip seymour hoffman and jonah hill and I think it got some oscar noms, too.

Seeing jonah hill's character develop from a softspoken guy to a negotiator all by finding confidence in himself and those around him was a movie in itself. Very inspiring!
