happy wednesday! this week has been flyin' by, yay! and tomorrow i should be getting tattooed on my thigh which means maybe 2 more sessions and then i can reveal my largest and first colored piece. im so excited :)

here are a few details of what i have been wearing the past week!
Untitled
a new striped sweater with the cutest little polar bear. topped it off with a little lace faux collar and a thrifted green velvet jacket :)

image i wore this on a date night with my sister-in-law to go see the last twilight movie, it was bitter sweet. the skirt i love, got it thrifting a bit a go and the shirt i got at a local surf shop. i call it my creepy surfer dude shirt :)
Untitled
i stopped at the thrift store the other day and found a super cute disty polka dress and a pair of boots i haven wanting! i love when magical things await you at the thrift store :) plus my sad little wallet loves it even more :)
Untitled
i always love a good band tee and one of my all time favorite bands is led zeppelin <3 p="p">
Untitled
i love stripes but really really need to stop buying them. i haven't been able to pull off the stripe top, stripe skirt look either.

have a great rest of the week!

outfits of instagram

i can i say that i love instagram (@citybirdsnest) at first i was'nt sure about it but since life has been so crazy it has been so much fun to be able to keep up with my friends and also a fun way to show off my crafts, outfits and my tattoo world. i have been missing outfit posts a lot and instagram makes it so easy! here are a few outfits of my instagram!
it got really cold right after thanksgiving, it finally feels like winter. i have been loving adding pins to my outfits, such a fun new accessory that i don't normally do, i meani wear pins on my jackets and coats but never on my actual outfits, doesthat make  sense?
im obssessed with yellow and mint. i got a pair of mint tights and it really has opened up a whole new world for me. i love dressing so bright during winter, helps with S.A.D., hehehe
i loved this outfit so much! i hadn't worn this dress in so long, i have a hard time pairing it with cardigans because of the neckline but a white quater sleeve shirt did the trick and made it perfect for winter.
another yellow and mint combo but paired with brown. i love my custom mountain dress made from a pillow case, it makes me so happy :)
i wore this to the tattoo shop, if you haven't noticed already i love yellow! hahah, wear it alot i guess. can i tell you how much i love these socks? they are the shit, after the end of the day these tights were toast so i bought 2 more because i love them much!

if your on instagram, lets be friends @citybirdsnest!

what i wore: a touch of fall

happy wednesday! now, please don't hate me when i say this but i am so sad summer is gone. i love fall, i really do but i just feel like i didn't get enough of summer. maybe it is because we only went on two camping trips and that i didn't visit the lake enough but i am just not ready for the chill and to put tights on however much i love them. so instead of giving in to the cold the other day i opted for a sweater and socks.
my sassy, no fall come in a few months, face.
i love this picture, maybe because i finally love my nose!
i really love this outfit, however crazy it may be. its chuck full of pattern; stripes, polka dots and horses. for me, it works and i will be wearing this outfit many more times but probably with boots and knees high socks once it gets colder.

these socks are my favorite. i bought them at the thrift store a while ago and since then i have only worn them once. wanna know why? there is a sock thieve in our house and his name is tom! can you believe this guy! i mean, i bought them for myself and he has been wearing them almost once a week. he says it is just one of those things that we just have to share. fine but dude, let me wear them once in a while. plus i look waaay cuter in them ;)

what i wore: a day in the sun

happy wednesday! i want to thank everyone for all the really amazing comments on my last post. i can't tell you how grateful i am to have such a great supportive group of friends and readers that i can share my tattoo journey with. thank you everyone for all the encouraging and sweet comments, you don't know how much they mean to me!
saturday tom and i ran around town got some shit done and also popped into the salvation army because they were having a 50% off sale! nothing better then that, right?  i made out with some great things but i was really excited about the rainbow pin i found and it went perfectly with my outfit that day!
after our errands, we grabbed a few beers and headed to the park next to our house and enjoyed the sun and did some people watching. it was really nice and we both needed to just relax and be in each others company. since the sun is setting earlier we are trying to take advantage of being outside as much as possible however hard that is since saturday is my only day off. hopefully soon we will be taking a much needed surfing trip! oh how i miss the water!
since i have been so busy i have brought a few items to be tailored. this skirt was one of them. i love the color so much and when i thrifted it, it was just a bit too long for my liking so when the zipper of my bridesmaid broke i brought it. if i hadn't, then this skirt would still be in the "to be fixed" pile.

what i wore: copy cat

yay, its friday which means tomorrow is my day off!!! its so hard to come back from vacation, i have felt so tired because of it but i plan on having a restful day saturday. what are your plans for this weekend?
ever since working at the tattoo shop, i have worn pants. i don't normally like wearing pants all the time but since i work with a bunch of dudes i feel a little shy wearing skirts or dress or being girly. i am not sure why i feel this way, i guess i don't really want them to treat me differently because i am a girl and i want appear like their equals but i don't get that feeling from them so i am not sure why i just don't dress more like myself. i hope that can feel more comfortable doing this soon. but that being said, i changed it up and wore shorts.
yea, yea yea, shorts are basically pants but shorter but i was proud for not wearing pants that day, baby steps people, baby steps. when were were in boston getting out hair done for the wedding one of the stylists was wearing a similar outfit to this. i loved it so much that i went home and did my own version of her preppy shorts and jacket. she had however grey boat shoes, which i would never buy but they are kinda haunting my dreams. i keep picturing them in my mind and feel like i need to go out and get some. but i know i would never wear them as they aren't really my style. does this happen to anyone else or just me?

what i wore: bicycle skirt garter, a review!

happy wednesday! first off, i want to thank everyone for all the wonderful comments and support on my tattoo apprenticeship. i am beyond the moon about it. they have asked me to attend the sf tattoo expo this weekend, i have never been and i am so excited and nervous. it should be a good time and i will for sure take pictures and share!

today i have a wonderful review. i was contacted by eleanor's, an awesome bike boutique located in new york city, and they wanted me to do a guest post for them and to review one of their products, a skirt garter! i was so stoked because i had been wanting one and have never seen them in any of the shops around here. if you are a a dress/skirt wearing bike lady, like me, then you have to have one of these!

i always wear little shorts under my skirts/dresses, it makes me feel more comfortable while riding and bending over but my skirts/dress still would blow up while riding and especially when it is super windy. with the skirt garter your skirt stays down and i must say it is a huge relief. getting looks on my bike doesn't bother me too much but there are times that it does and the skirt garter really makes a difference. i want to be able to wear what i want while i ride and to feel at ease without having to worry about flashing anyone! eep!
i have been wearing it like crazy; the best thing is that it doesn't move while you ride which was a concern of mine. i wore it on a night out with tom to a bike party in the city were i wanted to dress up a tad and when i got off my bike, i just hiked it up a bit and it was hidden from view. it comes in three colors, cannery yellow, blue sky and bubble gum. plus it also comes in different sizes too which is awesome.
now i can wear what i want without having to sacrifice my dignity. if you live in nyc, i suggest you pop on over to eleanor's. i only wish i could!

what i wore: little green garden

hello lovelies. how is everyone's week so far? this week has been weird, great but weird. the shop i work at is moving so i worked sunday and monday and have no idea when i work next. this is good and bad. good, because i am getting lots done on my list of things to do and bad, well, because i needs the moneys.
details:
dress: thrifted
shoes: thrifted
bracelet: thrifted
belt: f21

this is what i wore sunday. i recently thrifted this and really love the ease of it and the colors. however, i always have a hard time buying button up shirts or dresses because of the button between my boobs, that always gaps open. even on shirts that aren't very tight. it is maddening, maddening, i tell you! so finally i got wise.... i sewed space in-between the two buttons that were giving me the problem, perfecto, no more gap and i can still put the dress on properly without having to stitch it up every time i want to wear it. it is the 21st century and they still don't know how to make shirts that fit a ladies body right.

what i wore: polka dots

happy wednesday everyone! i hope your week has been good to you so far. today starts my 6 day work week...ugh. i am not looking forward to it at all but i gotta cover for my co-worker who is going out of town. wish me luck that i don't go crazy.
i wore this to work the other day. i love this dress but it wrinkles like crazy! i ironed it before work only for it to instantly wrinkle the moment i sat down. oh well. what can you do.
over the weekend, kelly-anne, gave me bride of frankenstein high lights and i really love them. they are fun and different. i dyed my ends to cover up the bleach but really could use a hair cute to just chop off the dead ends. soon, hair, soon. i can't wait for that day.

after these pictures were taken tom and i headed over to grab pho. if you have never tried pho, you better! it is sooo good and always super cheap too! i am a huge fan of soup, it always leaves you feeling warm and full in the greatest way. i want to eat pho everyday :D

i want this night to live forever!

oh man, i am still deaf from last night. that's a good sign right? oh and my feet hurt but you know, it was all worth it! we had a blast, marina was soooo amazing! truly truly amazing! i love music so much but her music just speaks to me. i feel like all her songs were written for me. they aren't just regular pop songs, at least to me they aren't.
i wanted to dress up a bit for the occasion, this is what i wore.
details:
jacket: thrifted
dress: uo
belt:f21

we met a few ladies there, emily, megan & julie and or course kelly-anne. it was so much fun meeting new friends! i am not gonna a lie, totally nervous, but everyone was so sweet and awesome.

so sweaty but so so much fun!
i want re-live this night over and over, it was just way more then i expected. she played every song i was hoping she would, even from her last album. i have never been so sweaty at a concert, but it was the best kinda sweaty, i can tell you that much!
waiting in line to meet marina!
not to mention that we kinda got to meet her after the show. props to the boys who stayed late waiting for us! it was awesome! she is just so amazing and i will remember this night forever!
