getting out

hi lovelies
last friday i needed to get out of the house as cabin fever was setting in and i feared it would permanently damage some of my brain cells so tom and i headed out to berkley to my favorite fabric store to pick up some much needed supplies. i picked up some really awesome stiff lining which is just what i needed for my bike bag! will show you the finished piece tomorrow :D
i also picked up a hooded poncho pattern which i am SUPER excited to make!! i have been DYING to have a hooded cape, they are sooo much fun to ride in! my plan is to find a old XL pendleton and cut it up to use for the cape outside and use an old sweater for the inside, gonna be AWESOME!
also found some really awesome 70's looking trim which i will be making a camera strap with for our new little camera. i am definitely going to extend sew september as i have so many projects i didn't get to do!
we grabbed some sandwiches and road around a bit admiring the really awesome houses. we found this little park and sat for a while and soaked up some vitamin d. it felt really good to be in the sun, my soul needed it <3

bike chick tip

happy wednesday! today i am bringing you my bike chick outfit post! this outfit was from a couple of weekends ago...some of you may find my shirt very  familiar :D

for this ride the mister and i went to the park that day and it was so so hot!! actually quite unexpected really which was nice. so for this bike outfit i am wearing a thrifted paisley skirt i hemmed...took off about10 inches of this bad boy...my owl shirt from one of my favorite online stores...modcloth and my black sandles... hair up in milkmaid braids...oh and that really awesome necklace i won!

unbeknown to you is that under this skirt i have black volleyball shorts on. i always wear these whenever i ride in a skirt or dress...that way i am not self conscience about anyone seeing my undies...all they see is black little shorts nothing more nothing less!

so that is my tip for all you skirt wearing bikers out there BUT if you are going to wear anything longer then my skirt...say if i hadn't cut the skirt and hemmed it...you would need to get a skirt guard to protect your clothes from getting caught in the chain and gears...that i will show you in another post :D  but if you are wearing that short skirt even though people might think they see your underwear...they really aren't....as long as it makes you feel comfortable to go out there and ride your bike while being a lady then that is all that matters :D happy riding!

just another little reminder to leave a comment on my blogloving giveaway to be entered for the prize ;D

so fresh...

saturday was excellent! rode our bikes out to the outer sunset for my 12 noon tattoo appt. with sam @ tattoo tuesday. i am always so happy to walk through those doors and give sam a huge hug. she is the sweetest person and i love talking up a storm with her while she works away at my skin :D she is excellent to work with and she always has great ideas. i went in to the shop with the intent to just add more of the flowers i already had on my shoulder up my neck but came out with much more and i couldn't be MORE happy!

i brought in a pattern that i have been working on and really liked a pair of flowers i have been staring at for the past month. typically before i get a tattoo the mister draws it on me so that i know before hand that i am ready to get it on me permanently but this time around it wasn't successful and i was stumped on how to change it... i showed her the flowers and she got down to work. went to the printer and made larger versions of the flowers and made temporary tattoos to stick on my body...she did her thing and one glance in the mirror i fell in love! she touched up the tattoo on my arm and 2 1/2 hours later i was finished...we said our good byes and told her i would be back very soon...christmas present maybe?? we had a great ride through the park and went to the fly bar to eat a shroom pizza and a couple beers...snooped around the local thrift store and then rode home...a great saturday in my eyes...hope you had a fabulous saturday and a rest of your sunday!
