bits and bobs
i have been keeping up on my flash. i did a few lady heads but man, hair is hard. im getting it but i need to practice a few more times before i move onto my own designs. either way, im having a great time.
speaking of my own flash, i did my own version of a traditional kitty. i love it! both tom and i want to get it tattooed soon :) i have started signing my artwork too, which i haven really done in a while, it felt good to do that especially on something that is my own work :)
hope your having a great start to your week

she believed she could....
hey wonderful people!
i was pleasantly surprised this weekend to receive an email from one of my clients...remember this tattoo design?
well, she finally got it and i love how it turned out! i love when clients send me pictures!! sam, my tattoo artist, actually did it and she did a wonderful job! i know she had wanted color and i typically charge extra for that so i just did the line drawing. for clients, i like just doing the line work because it allows the tattoo artist to make it their own. it is also fun to see what they add to my designs. i can't wait though to do my very first design on my first paying client, oh what an amazing day that will be!
reading this quote really hits home for me and it sheds a new light for me...it makes me so happy...if i could tell anyone a bit of advice, its to follow your dreams and believe in yourself 100%.
have a great day!

flash
happy monday! this is one of the greatest weeks because 1) thanksgiving, the grestest holiday, is on thursday, 2) its tom's birthday friday and 3) maybe the most important of them all, i get three whole beautiful days off. like a mini holiday....joy :)

this last friday at the tattoo shop was probably the most fun i have had since being there. the shop was busy, it was raining outside and i learned how to paint tradition tattoo flash. i felt like i was actually a tattoo artist and one of my favorite things is tattoo flash art. its so cool and it always looks awesome.
since ive been there i have wanted to start making flash and my buddy and co-worker, erik, my wanted to show me how to do it. i was stoked. he set up and did a demenstration. since i am familiar with watercolors and use them, it looked pretty easy and it ended up being mucher easier then i thought. i had a few things i had copied from a sailor jerry book and used his orginal drawings as reference. since i am learning how american traditinal tattoo design is shaded it is always best to copy and learn how it is done and then you can take what you learned and apply it to your own designs. this is my favorite process and american traditonal tattoo flash is some of my favorite tattoo design. i can't wait how to learn the mexican style the other guys at the shop do, yay!
i am going to continue copying for a while until i feel comfortable but i feel it wont take long as i have a flash board i am dying to start designing for, i should probably start skecthing for it, eeep!

a sweet floral
hi everyone! i hope everyone had a nice weekend! i want to thank everyone who
left such encouraging supportive comments on my last post. it really
felt so good to get it out there. i am still i bit stressed but at least
i feel better about. thank you everyone!!
so, onward and upwards! this weekend i finished my latest tattoo flash for a client. i am very very excited to finally be able to share with you! i started on the design mid april and had to stop because of my show and i needed to concentrate on getting some work done for that. i picked it back up mid may and it has been slow going ever since.
it has been really fun to work on this one because it was exactly what i love about designing. she had very specific flowers she was looking for calendulas, mums and larkspurs and i added some little ditsy flowers to fill in the rest. i was working around another exsisting tattoo making it a bit harder then normal but i am always up for a challenge! she is getting it on her back shoulder all the way to the front of her elbow.
i think it is gonna look so awesome and i can't wait to see the finished piece on her! right now i am working on some wedding invitations and then after that a cover up which i can't wait to start!
oh! just a heads up, starting august the pricing of my tattoo designs will be going up so if you want to get them at the price they are now, i can put you down in my calendar!
tom and i are waiting on a disposable camera from our weekend adventure, i can't wait to share!
