i haven't worn these jeans in ages. they had been sitting in my dresser forever because they were made for a 7ft amazon, thats right, a 7 freakin foot amazing :) i could only wear them with either high heels or cuff them, which regardless of how often i fixed them, would drag on the floor and eventually they started to rip. so instead of throwing them to the curb, i decided to hem them instead.
it worked because i am now wearing them, go me. it is nice to breath life into something that would otherwise be tossed in the donation pile. next, i think i want to try my hand at tailoring another pair i have that is actually in the donation pile! we shall see what happens :)
so i have to give you a bit of sad news....the earrings in the picture are no more...crushed to millions of pieces by some horrible ladies dumpy car! tom and i went swimming after we took these pictures and i had put my earrings in a pocket and when i went over a speed bump, it popped out, i saw it fall but couldn't turn around and stop. what i heard has haunted me since....my ears heard the beautiful white plastic shatter....i couldn't look so tom went back and confirmed my worst fear...my co-worker gave them to me and it was the first time wearing them..... my love affair with these beauties was short lived...sigh

ReplyDeleteyellow makes me happy too!
DeleteYou look great in yellow!
ReplyDeleteSo sorry about the earrings. I have had a few short-lived beloved items like that in my life and it's always sad. At least you have the photos in memoriam!!
i know it was super sad, i am sorry for your lose too. haha yes i have photos! hehe
DeleteI love your sweater and your nails!
ReplyDeleteI am sorry to hear about your earring :( Maybe you can turn the remaining one into a pendant or brooch so that it isn't a total loss.
Great job on the hemming! I have some pants from Anthro that are very long, too... who the heck are they using as a guideline for their clothes?...
thanks kristen!
Deletei think making the other one into a pendant is a brilliant idea! or even a little brooch! me like this idea! i know who are they making these pants for! it drives me crazy!
This outfit is amazing. And maybe even one of my favorites of yours? I love the simplicity/casualness of it, and it's preeeetty much perfect. Vans! I miss my Vans. You've inspired me to dig mine out. Also, I'm so sorry about your earring. That seriously happened to a pair of glasses I had once....I took them off to put my sunnies on, left them on the dashboard, and then when I took a left turn, they flew out the open window right into the intersection. I'm an idiot! :)
ReplyDeletedig your vans out girl! they are so freakin comfy, i found mine in the back of the bug, i had even forgotten i had them until a month ago! reunited and it felt soooo gooood :)
Deleteoh no your glasses! your not an idiot sweetie, the glasses should have known to stick to the dashboard!
love it! very mellow indeed and your matching nails! <3 i'm so sorry about your earrings :(
ReplyDeleteAdorable outfit! That's great that you hemmed up your jeans. I need to do that with a few of mine. Sorry about your earrings :( So sad!
ReplyDeleteif you do hem some pants let me know how it goes!
DeleteAww bless you about the earrings! I hate when things break on their first outing. Very cute outfit though, love your sunny little nails =)
ReplyDeletei think i am going to make a brooch out of it!
DeleteI do love yellow. It makes me smile. You also make me smile. :) So sorry to hear about your earrings death. That is not a fun way to go.
ReplyDeleteno you make me smile!!!!!!!!!!! it was the saddest death ever, could you imagine being crushed to death, doesn't sound like fun at all!
Deletethat's such a pretty top, and i know you love stripes just as much as i do! also, that's great you were able to hem your jeans, because isn't it so annoying that pants are made for people that are 7 feet tall? i mean honestly, i don't know if i ever see women that tall!
ReplyDeleteoh no, I could almost hear the crushing! love the sunny yellow (in the nails too); you're right, a bit of sunshine makes all the difference :) xox
ReplyDeletei know it was the most horrible sound ever!
DeleteCute outfit! I will always have a soft-spot in my heart for casual outfits such as this...they're almost too perfect.
