happy little things #14

hello! today is my last day of my 6 day work week, FINALLY! i am not sure what the rest of the week holds for me. i know for sure i have tuesday off but not sure if i have to work wednesday or thursday. i hate that feeling of uncertainty. oh well, i will just go with the flow. embrace my last day out of 6 days and just enjoy the day i know i will have off.
this was our very first piece we bought, back 6 years ago.
we found the fabric at the thrift store and then i found the frame to fit
thrifted, it is perfectly made, this artist was AMAZINGLY skilled :)
my mom got this for me while in mexico and we found the frame at a thrift store. match made in heaven!
okay, on to the good stuff. i LOVE wall embroidery art. raise your hand if you feel me....! i gravitate towards it. you can see the time someone spent making it and i love the 3D aspect of it. i usually always always have my eye out for them while shopping and have trained tom to do the same. we have been very lucky with what we have found while thrifting. here are a few that i love and have already hanging in the house.
this one i found a few weekends ago while thrifting with my cousin-in-law and sister-in-law. i love it so much and have not hung it up yet. i have been a bit lazy as we don't have a perfect place for it so we have to move some things around in order to give it a home. it will most likely go in our bedroom where i have kinda kept all of our floral embroidery. makes me feel like we are sleeping in a little handmade garden :)

little pick me up

hey everyone! hope you all had a great weekend :) ours was pretty mellow but surprisingly really nice. there was lots of cuddling on the couch, watching movies, playing the wii, having yummy food, & embroidering. we needed to get out of the house so we went to one of our favorite thrift store for a few pick me ups!! here are some of the treasures we scored!!

another owl to add to my owl room :D i love his eyes and how simple his design is!

i always LOVE scoring embroidering pieces and this one is no exception. i don't have a little birdie embroidery yet so it was nice to add this little gem to my collection. we added it to the wall in our reading lair...

....and you can all see our moose head who is sporting an a's scarf and hat and what we like to all "the patriots" sunglasses...isn't he marvelous!?!?

scoring vintage fabrics is like finding gold to me. it brings me such joy to find awesome florals or stripes...this one feels like a nice thin wool and i think i will make some skirts and then some bows :D oh i can't wait! one thing i have over looked while at the thrift store was their sewing supplies and i am SOOOO happy i found this really awesome baggy full of sewing needles and machine needles too! i am always worried that my needle will break in the middle of a project and then be stuck without one...when i got home i checked my sewing manual and all the needles i scored fit! YAYAYAY!!!

ever since we got gilbert the mister has been on a mission to find a beret for me to wear while riding gilbert and he found the perfect one! and as you can see i got a little bored so i had some fun with my pictures :D

what were you up to this weekend?

two can ride

hey all! happy friday, yahoooooo!!! so i got super excited that you all couldn't wait to see the tandem so i jumped on it and here is the latest! i sooo love this one! red classic tandem with a light blue stained frame! i started a sketch for another that is a bike camping one...i can't wait for that one!!

i haven't added it to my shop yet...i can't tell you how CRAZY it is over here! i am asking you guys a HUGE favor....i need all your good luck vibes in the next two months...because.............................................WE ARE GOING TO OPEN A BIKE SHOP!!!! we are doing all the financing and paperwork....business loans...shop design...blah blah blah and let me tell you it is A TON of work but the mister and i are so super EXCITED!! the only thing that will be the most difficult is getting the business loan....oh i hope they lend us the money!!! one of our favorite bike shops retired this year and the other stores are CRAP with bad service, shitty inventory & shitty attitude! i have told the mister i refuse to go to one of them because of the attitude we always get there whenever we step foot in there...we are hoping to get the shop opened early january of next year so my postings will be sporadic and i will be posting a lot of my crafts that i am also getting ready for my craft fair....YIPPEEEE

i am off now heading up to lake tahoe for my cousin's fiancee's bachlorette party! can't wait, it is going to be fun and a time to let loose a little. i'll be back on sunday to share the good times!

hope you all have a great weekend!!!!!!

embroidery goodness

a while back becky from becky's blog posted a vintage owl embroidery she had finished and i just about died when i saw it! i told her i would pay for one and this amazing talented lady sent me an email telling me she would send me an owl embroidery for FREE...i was so filled with joy i almost peed myself! so while we were on vacation a little package awaited me! i mean not only did i just get back from a relaxing vacation with my mister, but one of the greatest presents awaited me!!! i ripped open the package and squealed with utter joy! becky had embriodered this little guy on a canvas apron but there was no way in hell i would ever want to get him dirty so i cut him out, ran to the thrift store and bought a frame and now he is hanging in my owl room, also known as our "powder room"!

now you get a sneak peak into my "owl room"!

he is so perfect in every way, oh i just love him! if you haven't checked out becky's blog i would, she does some great embriodery work, she is a great buddy and the most wonderful person! there was no way i was going to let her get away with this for free embroidery madness so i popped in the mail a pair of my black owl earrings! it only felt right to give an owl for an owl :D

and speaking of embroidery, while traveling i knew we had long layovers and 6 hour flights so i packed my embroidery hoop, a needle and some floss and finished this guy! he is an orange fixie, which in bike terms is a bike with only one gear, sometimes no brakes either, CRAZY! this little guy is up in my shop so he is ready to find a beautiful home to call his very own!

next on my embroidery list is a tandem and a girl & boy bike! can't wait to get those started!

oh by the way i was interviewed by te maari over at the little monarch. she has a beautiful blog as well as great amazing style AND she lives in new zealand, one of the places i must see before i die!!

hope you all have a great and fabulous day!

Me encanta nuestros tesoros mexicanos!!!

yay, happy friday everyone! i am very appreciative that this week went by really fast!

every time you go to mexico you have to come back with some kind of treasure...it is just necessary. it is always one of my favorite things about visiting a place. bringing treasure back home and weaving them into my life always make the trip last forever.

what i love about mexican art and crafts are the vibrant colors and the designs.  every time i go there are 3 things that need to be bought. 1) a mexican blanket for the mister...2) some type of embroidered textile for me and 3) a cross and we accomplished these things this trip! here is what we took back to our little casa...

the mister found this really awesome mexican blanket. we both love the design and the colors....i am so in love with the little birds in this design! these thick blankets are our favorite to take to the beach or park and fit perfectly on our bikes all rolled up...

i fell in love with these embroidered purses that they had. it was so hard to pick one because they were all so beautiful! i decided that the larger one would be nice as i don't have a big bag this size and it was nice to have another bag to use for my commute each day!

while in tulum we saw this really cute little cross! we have several mexican crosses scattered throughout the house but this is a different style plus it has the bowl for holy water which we both really liked! now to go to lourdes, france to get some holy water!

this was my last purchase which happened to me at the cancun airport...i am a huge fan of the dia de los muertos art and just had to have them!

hope you all have a great weekend!! i have a very exciting weekend....a visit from my nephew and sister in law, our park is having a dia de los muertos art exhibit inside the mansion, pumpkin carving and craft making! lots and lots to share with you all next week!

i always love october!

thread + frames + award = OH MY!

i am so excited to share with you another bike embroidery that i finished over the weekend. i am really happy with the way this one turned out. i used a different linen and it really made a difference! i can add a bit more detail which is really nice without it getting lost in the background. i am really happy with the result!
i added the bike to my shop yay! so if there are any takers it is up for grabs! i will be adding a custom one too but that will come a little later!
