weekend lovin'

hope you all had a great weekend! the weather here has been pretty pretty fine these past few days. at first i was a bit scared, the week started off with fog and cold mornings but by the tail end of the week it proved me wrong. i am not ready to give up this heat as we haven't gotten much here this summer so i am hanging on to every little bit and lovin' it! we had a really great weekend, just me and the mister, just the way i like it!
we woke up early friday and i couldn't wait to wear my new teacher's pet blouse from red velvet so i throw that on and we drove over to our favorite greasy spoon to get a yummy breakfast.

love me some grits!
nothing like a greasy breakfast to soothe the soul and warm your heart <3 with our bellies full we then hit up all the local thrift stores and one garage sale! yup a lot of treasuring hunting was done that day and it was fantastic! we didn't have much to do that day so why the heck not, right?!

we drove a LOT that day, thanks tom for driving, your the best!
i love the back of this dress!
detail of the pattern
we were on the hunt for some fantastic outfits for a project that we are working on but with no avail but i was pretty stoked on this really cute daisy dress which is pretty much perfect and i was even more stoked to find this fleece denim jacket and when i brought it up to the cash register it was half off, BOOYAH! i am one of those people that have a hard time finding jackets that i like so it was really awesome to score this.

we got several good vinyls, the prince album we already had but not on vinyl so of course we couldn't pass that one up! and jackie jormpjomp (please somebody know who i am talking about!) this album is really good, a pity she had an early invitation to the grave.

at the garage sale we found this 4 piece set of blue crystal glasses! they were still in the box and the are the same ones we have but ours are orange. just need to christen them with a yummy bottle of red wine!

later that night we went to the east bay bike party but our battery died when we got there so i couldn't take a video of the ride, it was a HUGE turn out and ended at a brewery, with taco trucks that were some of the best tacos i have had in a while!

how was your weekend? any good treasures?

not sure how to put this...

my brain has pooped and i am not sure what else to write except, look at the awesome stuff i got while thrifting this friday :D i had a post planned but the film won't be developed until tomorrow, so this is a back up post. the developer dude at walgreens is... let me put it mildly, not all there....to say the least bringing in film while he is working makes me cringe...with that said...here they are...hehe

i was super stoked to see the fabric of this dress peaking out amongst the other dresses and was even more excited that it actually fit and get this...pockets! i will always instantly love a dress more because it had pockets...who doesn't like a pocket <3

love me a wrinkly shirt :)

this was an ultimate find for me. it reminds me of a shirt my grandmother would wear and it was really exciting to see it fit too! these usually don't look good on because they are always boxy and then too big,  booyah <3

tribal designs always catch my eye and this i saw after i was already in line to checkout...i can't wait to wear it when it gets a bit more chilly.

i love opening my cupboards and seeing everything stored in pretty jars, now my trail mix is so fancy!

this might not seem very exciting but let me tell you, it is....now, whenever i am making jewerely i dont have to get up and walk to the bedroom to see what my creation looks like on...i can just sit in my chair and decide right then and there...it is really the little things that make life good, hehe

well i hope you all had a fantastic weekend and were able to find some treasures too!

made out like a bandit!

well, what a weekend! and filled with oh so many amazing treasures, as the title of this post implies :D this weekend was GLORIOUS!

starting with thursday night which was the swapaholics clothing swap, my mom met me at work and we headed out to the swap. i wanted to show you the dress i wore as i bought it from rusty cuts on etsy! if you all have seen the star wars dress that elsie wore on a beautiful mess, this is the same designer and i fell oh so in love with this dress and had her custom make it for me!

the swap was interesting but we had a great time. just not what i had expected and sadly orchid grey could not attend so i did not get to meet her :( i did however do an interview with her and it should be posted on the swapaholics website sometime this week. here is my favorite score...this sweater is so so awesome! the mister has his beady little eyes set on this sweater but it will be a cold day in hell when i give it up! hehehe

the next day for some reason we woke up early! but all was well as we headed to our favorite thrift store and let me tell you... getting up early really pays off! the mister and i scored matching...say it with me...MATCHING roller skates!!!!! for $3 each!!! one of my dreams has come true...EEK!! we tested them out later that day...and they were AWESOME! can't wait to take these to the roller rink and really let loose!

i also scored this really sweet bag which i have had my eye on a similar one from urban outfitters and i only got this one for $4!! the amazing things people give up!

i also scored this really awesome silver santa fe style belt & this pink polka dress, so so amazing! we walked away with more treasures but these were my ultimate favorite finds of the day!

we then headed home and dropped off our loot and headed out to the local swimming hole and sat in the sun and had ourselves a nice little picnic in the sun... and yay neither one of us got burnt!
yup, .drowning sucks and nobody likes it...remember that
the mister is wearing a shirt he scored at the thrift store and i must say he is looking so good :D love my mister!!

like i said we made out like bandits and had a glorious day!!!! if we had rode our bikes to the swimming hole it would have been perfection but then i would have exploded from the perfectness of the day and i would not be able to share my treasures and weekend with you ;)

hope you all had a fantastic weekend too, what were ya'll up too?

little pick me up

hey everyone! hope you all had a great weekend :) ours was pretty mellow but surprisingly really nice. there was lots of cuddling on the couch, watching movies, playing the wii, having yummy food, & embroidering. we needed to get out of the house so we went to one of our favorite thrift store for a few pick me ups!! here are some of the treasures we scored!!

another owl to add to my owl room :D i love his eyes and how simple his design is!

i always LOVE scoring embroidering pieces and this one is no exception. i don't have a little birdie embroidery yet so it was nice to add this little gem to my collection. we added it to the wall in our reading lair...

....and you can all see our moose head who is sporting an a's scarf and hat and what we like to all "the patriots" sunglasses...isn't he marvelous!?!?

scoring vintage fabrics is like finding gold to me. it brings me such joy to find awesome florals or stripes...this one feels like a nice thin wool and i think i will make some skirts and then some bows :D oh i can't wait! one thing i have over looked while at the thrift store was their sewing supplies and i am SOOOO happy i found this really awesome baggy full of sewing needles and machine needles too! i am always worried that my needle will break in the middle of a project and then be stuck without one...when i got home i checked my sewing manual and all the needles i scored fit! YAYAYAY!!!

ever since we got gilbert the mister has been on a mission to find a beret for me to wear while riding gilbert and he found the perfect one! and as you can see i got a little bored so i had some fun with my pictures :D

what were you up to this weekend?

a very lazy day

saturday didn't turn out the way we planned.....the night before we went through out entire house and get things ready for the garage sale. we had asked our neighbors if they wanted to join forces to have a multi family garage sale. a couple of people said yes, i had posted a craigslist ad and we were all set friday night...welllllll.....to make a LONG story short all of the neighbors had bailed on us and since we didn't have a ton of stuff and it had rained the night before and the weather was to say the least crappy we decided to have the garage sale another day... so instead we jumped in gladys and high tailed it to breakfast!
we didn't get waffles but i did get a huge bowl of grits...mmmmm my favorite!

after that we made a very very short trip to the thrift store where my eagle eye spotted these SUPER CUTE green/gold owls!!! super stocked!!! these will go in my owl room!!!! i also got a couple more frames for my bike embroidery, yay!

we had a meeting at 12 which i can't really go into more detail as it is still all up in the air...i can tell you this, if it DOES work out...it means a whole new life adventure for the mister and me to go on together! and no we are NOT  pregnant...sorry just needed to put that out there :O

after the meeting we took a short cap nap, woke up got some yogurt and then went to see MACHETE. if you went and saw grindhouse you will like this movie...it actually was a fake trailer that was featured during grindhouse that robert rodrique actually ended up making...it was pretty good but i have to say lindsay lohan is in this movie and this poor girl has just really brought herself to a new low.... the part was perfect for her which was kinda sad...but hey i am sure she made a bundle...

back tomorrow with a bike chick tip outfit post!!! oh and don't forget to leave a comment on to be entered in the bloglovin' giveaway :)

happy as a clam

happy friday everyone! cheers to a short work week, YAHOO!! i want to thank everyone for the most wonderful comments on my last post! i was a little nervous to post about the bike and i was so delighted with the responses, so again many many thanks to you all!!

so as tradition should have it the mister met me at bart yesterday and we wheeled our way to thrift town where we got some great stuff. the mister got two really great jackets and some blue bike spandex, can't WAIT to see him wear those bad boys ;D and i got 2 cute blue dresses of which you can see bits of it in the below picture. but since i was so pumped on bike embroidery i made a bee line to the frame section and grabbed some frames and to my surprise there was a TON of bags of embroidery floss...fate right? so i grabbed a bag which had some new colors i didn't have which will be nice for custom orders :) i plan on making another one this weekend and this time the mister will not get his way no matter how cute he is...

oh and found this super cute sterling silver bracelet with flowers carved on it :D yay!

i hope everyone has a great weekend, i will be getting my hands dirty with grease as i fix ursula up :) can't wait to share my bike chick tip with you next week and some new skirts i plan on making on sewing sunday!

starting a tradition

HAPPY MONDAY!!!! thank you all for the wonderful comments about my pictures from boston! i had so much fun taking them and then waiting for them to be developed!

....so the mister and i have noticed a trend...one day out of the week he meets me at bart...we ride our bikes to thrift town and then go get mexican food! we noticed this pattern last thursday so we have decided to start a tradition...it is so nice because recently we haven't been able to go on bike rides together and it is nice to not cook one night and it is always a nice to excuse to spend some time together as he often works late and i feel like a don't get to see him much sunday thru tuesday. so last thursday the mister met me at bart and we were off to thrift town

i felt i walked away with some amazing stuff....i got some work clothes which wasn't soo exciting so i didn't take pictures of them but i got some stuff for the shop and will update the store in a bit but right now i am swamped with other side projects :D
i found this really amazing woven knit shift dress that looks like it was from the 70's...i decided to take a picture of my outfit  while pretending to work...hehehe...and then realized that my toes matched the dress perfectly!
another amazing hand embroidered wall art to add to the bedroom...
and a really cute apron with pockets! i saw the pattern first and knew whatever it was i needed to have! now i can clean my house in funky style :) anything that helps brighten up my chores is awesome in my book! after the treasure hunt it was off to our favorite mexican restaurant for NACHOS!!!

what is your favorite thrifted item? i couldn't tell you mine...to many, i LOVE them all <3
