citybirds chirp: printed peaks etsy & giveaway!

happy friday everyone and i am super stoked to introduce to you lo from little somethings by little lo hood the designer behind printed peaks. she is a super super sweet lady and i just love her blog and so happy to call her a friend. i just adore ever single one of her creations and i sooooo wish i could participate in this giveaway! but i am saving my pennies for one of those sweet necklaces to call my very own. well without further delay...take it away sweet pea!

Hi there City Birds Nest readers! I'm Lo of Little Somethings by Little Lo Hood and CB is ever so sweet to let me be one of her citybirds chirps!

CB is so talented...I love her owldorable jewelry so much! And I always love, love, love her bicycle tips and adventures. I'm pretty lucky to have such a great blogger buddy!

I have recently launched my Etsy shop, Printed Peaks and CB has been so supportive right from the beginning! Having an Etsy shop has been my little dream for quite a while, I just didn't know quite what I wanted to sell. I'm a very crafty lady but I wanted to make something unique and that really meant something to me. Well, I recently had moved from my once and always home Vermont to live with my boyfriend and I missed Vermont so much. This inspired Printed Peaks 100%. Each necklace is an abstract representation of the Vermont landscape and is named after a peak in Vermont. This project grew even closer to my heart when my Dad agreed to help me! Each necklace is completely handcrafted and is 1 of 15 in this collection. This collection is really nature centered with brown and tan tones, for my next collection I intend to branch out in a different color combination and I am so excited to do so! Here are the different types of necklaces at Printed Peaks and be sure to check out the different variations at the shop:

Since I am so happy about opening my shop I wanted to offer City Birds Nest readers a promo code for 15% off - "YAYSALEYAY15". But I would also love to offer a custom giveaway. The winner will be able to choose the type {Bromley, Skye, Mansfield, Stark, or Equinox} light or dark stain and chain and/or leather accessories if applicable to type. If you would like to enter leave a comment letting me know which type you would pick and your email as well. Please feel free to come chat me up over at my blog, I love meeting new readers and becoming readers of their blogs as well!
a photo of me, working on Printed Peaks
Thank you CB so much for this opportunity and to the lovely readers for visiting with me! I will be in Maine this next week and will be able to contact the winner the week after (Monday the 25th)!CB will choose at random and announce the winner on Wednesday 20th. I look forward to working with the winner as well as any others who decide to purchase with me! :) -Lo

surprise!!!

i am not sure where to start here... this picture makes me giggle every time i look at. it is so great that it is now our desk top picture on our lap top.... it is sheer perfection in every way...

click on the picture so that you can take it alllllll in....

this is a picture that was snapped over this past weekend and yes this is a mural in our crazy little town and yes, that is the mister.... would i grab this picture in a fire?... you bet i would!

so the surprise is a contest and the winner will receive a cute little package from citybirds! RULES: the first person to list all the strange things in this picture wins! a little helpful hint....the mister in his goofy pose does not count... although yes, it is quite special; he is so darn cute and he was nice enough to okay this picture that we don't need to poke fun at him... although i already did but that's my job as his wifey ;D

you can be as creative as you want! i will pick a winner on monday so leave a way for me to contact you! have fun!!!

don't forget tomorrow is another citybirds chirp and the last day of my clothing sale! email me if you want to be a part of citybirds chirp!

i hope you enjoy your new earrings sweetie! hope to see you sporting them on wardrobe wednesday!

thanks for all your amazing comments in the last months especially all the kinds words regarding my craft fair! it feels so good to have such wonderful readers!  it was wonderful to read about why you buy handmade. every one of you buy handmade because it feels good supporting an artist and knowing that your gift is unique and that time and love went into making it. as an artist it is sometimes hard to put something up for sale because as i make it i become so attached to it so in a way i am selling a little bit of me...but SO SO worth it if what i makes others happy!

keep buying handmade!!

potter

last night i finally went and saw harry potter!!! and it was the best one yet!!!! it is tradition that every year i go with my mom so i had to anxiously wait until she got back from her trip to spain, which by the way she had an incredible time!

i have read every harry potter book and seen every movie. i love this story and it doesn't help that i LOVE  magic and fantasy stories.in 1998 i remember the first time i heard about harry potter...all thanks to my mom! she was in a book club and they read the first book. once in a while the group would meet at a restaurant to discuss a book and this time they were meeting at a really yummy french restaurant so my mom invited me and i gladly accepted her offer. i never heard of the book nor did i even know what it was about so when everyone started talking about wizards, wands and muggles my ears perked up. everyone recommended that i read the book so i did and i was completely and utterly hooked!!!!!! i ripped though the pages staying up way way to late and often with a flash light in hand. when one book ended it felt like an eternity till the next book came out. this story has become so real to me that i refuse to believe that it isn't...we all need a bit of magic and fantasy in our lives even if it is imaginary :)

i hope you all have a fantastic weekend! i can't wait to tell you all about our tandem experience. don't forget to enter my giveaway if you haven't already it ends on monday!!!!

i'm cheating......

......on mary...........WITH OUR NEW FRENCH TANDEM WE HAVE NAMED GILBERT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! isn't he amazing!!!! the maker is gottfried

he is so pretty and in wonderful condition. we found him on craigslist for a steal!!!! typically tandems are $1000 and up but not this beauty wasn't! i am still a little shocked that we got it for a low price of $500 and everything is in working condition comes in the original water bottles too!  we are not sure what year he is as there isn't a ton of information that we could find about him so we will keep on looking. he needs some new cables and just some regular maintenance but we will be taking him for a spin this weekend...going on a new trail we haven't been on yet!! it is called the iron horse trail and it runs from walnut creek to dublin. i am super excited to test him out and see how he rides!!!will tell you all about it next week......wwweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!

don't forget to enter my giveaway if you haven't yet :)

success!

i am happy to report that the craft fair was as the title of this post implies....A SUCCESS! the holiday craft fair always does well because people are in the mood to shop. i had a lot of fun this time around, met some really nice people and chatted with friends. i was really really happy with my display, we got a lot of compliments on it especially the typewriter...that was pretty much the topic of conversation besides chitchatting about bikes and riding. displaying the owl earrings on the type writer was great a idea so many thanks to all of you for giving me great feedback!

since i love color so much i wanted to make my shop stand out so i used one of our yellow bed sheets as the table cloth and my vintage floral suitcase as a prop for my bike embroideries. i was a little nervous about selling them as this was the first time bringing them and i was really satisfied with the feed back and comments that customers gave me. it felt really good to be rewarded for all the hard work i have put in these last few months and validation that my work is appreciated.

damn you camera cord!!!!!!!!

each year that i have done this show i learn something new and i always improve each year. i think the reason it was a success this year was the great visibly of my table and price point too. i know what to bring next year and what not to and then maybe trying another new craft out and see how that works too.

everything that didn't sell will be up in my shop next weekend. if you see anything you want as a present just know that i mail everything out expedited which is typically 2-4 days depending where it is being shipped.

i want to thank every one that stopped by and helped support citybirds, i am so grateful and humbled as an artist. i had two customers that came up to me that had purchased my items in previous years and it was great to receive their sincere compliments. i also want to thank all of you amazing readers for being such a great support for me and for that i am offering a giveaway open to all my readers as a thank you....just simply leave a comment stating why you love buying handmade :) and you could be a winner of of these cute red owl & white leather earrings! entry ends monday dec. 13th

so you ask what is next for this crafter? well i have tons of presents to make which i am excited about as i am trying out two new items which i can't mention as my friends and family read my blog and i don't want to spoil their presents, so after x-mas i will show pictures and diy's for making them!

many thanks again!
