call of the wild

last week i received two very exciting packages. both from two amazing etsy shops and i am a proud owner of both of these hand crafted pieces. i got so excited that i had to wear them the instant i received them. normally i savor my new items and wait for a special day to wear them but i just couldn't wait!

i really enjoyed how i paired my "call of the wild"(which isn't the real name of the shirt but i love calling it that!) shirt with one of my favorite cream pleated vintage finds. i got the tee shirt from the sweet shop tee shirt gnome. i had a hard time deciding on which one i wanted as there were so many i feel in love with but i think i choose well :)

the other gem was from printed peaks! i shared them on my citybirds chirp a while ago and have been a fan of lo's work since she started working on them. i want to wear it everyday and i love the way it sounds too.

my headbadge on my bike, kiki
ain't my black plastic bag on my seat purty? super getto but hey, i would hate to ruin my favorite skirt. the things i do for fashion and riding :) wouldn't have it any other way and hey, whatever works, right?

please pass the mint, please!

hi everyone! thank you so much for your sweet and such supportive comments on my craft fair. i am so lucky to have such wonderful readers! i can't thank you enough :) each one of them made me smile, so thank you!
so in my last bike chic outfit i had mentioned how i am a bit in love with mint and yellow...well people it is official, i am obsessed with the color combo! i want to wear it all the time and i am getting the itch to paint and this color combo will be the first i try out!

i am also a bit obsessed with pleated skirts too. i got this black one a while back while hanging out with kelly-anne at one of my favorite thrift stores, actually now that i think about it i got the shirt there too! i just love how this skirt flows in the wind while i ride and i find myself watching the skirt more then the road ahead. so bad, especially in sf which is really bad., people have the nasty habit of jumping right off the curb and into the bike lane without looking. an awkward crash that would be!
know the game fogger? well that is kinda how it can be riding in the city... fun but at times a bit scary. as you can see i also painted my nails yellow and mint colored and i had sworn never to paint my nails ever again as they chip instantly but i couldn't resist :D
what colors are you obsessed with?

oh and i can't forget the winner of one of lo's amazing necklace....drum rolling please.......... NIKKI
congrats lady! lo will be contacting you next week to get your info and send you a fabulous necklace. i am very jealous indeed!

in other news, i did a guest post for poppies and sunshine. shawna has a super sweet inspirational blog that i just adore. check it out :)

starman

happy monday everyone! hope you all had a great weekend! the mister and i headed up to northern cali to met little bowie man and hang out with kelly-anne and family. it was really nice to see everyone, i just wish we could see them more often.
isn't his hat the cutest? his mama makes those! she is making tons for her shop so check it out!
little bowie man is such a cutie and just sleeps peacefully in our arms until he needs some milk! he was my little heater during the weekend as we sat cuddled together on the couch.
looks like i've dreads! so thats what i would look like..hmm interesting..
we caught up on true blood and had the mister dad's most delicious famous tacos! you just can't help eating so many which then turns you into a couch slug! hehe such a nice relaxing time with family....ahhh

we woke up early saturday to head back to sf for my show... deep in the pit of my stomach i new how it would turn out. man let me tell you... it was like pulling teeth. extremely painful and dreadfully boring. not many people showed up which was what i was worried about...therefore, i did not have one sale... this made me a very sad little clam...very sad but i still have too keep telling myself that it wasn't my stuff, just no one showed up! i am really hard on myself and it is something i am still working on, nobody is perfect. i did however receive many compliments on my portraits and people took my cards so it wasn't for nothing just a waste of a beautiful saturday being stuck inside. oh well, you can't win them all <3

i have the best mister in the entire world! he is so good to me and made me feel so much better after the show... plus having food really helped, my favorite, pho! i was a total grump and he let me do my thing when i got home which i really needed. i sat and doodled and got totally motivated for my new line of jewelry i have been working on. i really can't wait to start making them and show you guys and get feed back. hopefully soon, i can show you :D oh and my new animal portraits will go up in my shop this coming weekend, so if you had your eye on one, you have your chance! hehe

oh! if you haven't entered lo's printed peaks giveaway for a chance to win one of her awesome necklaces do so now! i will pick the winner on wednesday!! contest closes tuesday.... good luck!

citybirds chirp: printed peaks etsy & giveaway!

happy friday everyone and i am super stoked to introduce to you lo from little somethings by little lo hood the designer behind printed peaks. she is a super super sweet lady and i just love her blog and so happy to call her a friend. i just adore ever single one of her creations and i sooooo wish i could participate in this giveaway! but i am saving my pennies for one of those sweet necklaces to call my very own. well without further delay...take it away sweet pea!

Hi there City Birds Nest readers! I'm Lo of Little Somethings by Little Lo Hood and CB is ever so sweet to let me be one of her citybirds chirps!

CB is so talented...I love her owldorable jewelry so much! And I always love, love, love her bicycle tips and adventures. I'm pretty lucky to have such a great blogger buddy!

I have recently launched my Etsy shop, Printed Peaks and CB has been so supportive right from the beginning! Having an Etsy shop has been my little dream for quite a while, I just didn't know quite what I wanted to sell. I'm a very crafty lady but I wanted to make something unique and that really meant something to me. Well, I recently had moved from my once and always home Vermont to live with my boyfriend and I missed Vermont so much. This inspired Printed Peaks 100%. Each necklace is an abstract representation of the Vermont landscape and is named after a peak in Vermont. This project grew even closer to my heart when my Dad agreed to help me! Each necklace is completely handcrafted and is 1 of 15 in this collection. This collection is really nature centered with brown and tan tones, for my next collection I intend to branch out in a different color combination and I am so excited to do so! Here are the different types of necklaces at Printed Peaks and be sure to check out the different variations at the shop:

Since I am so happy about opening my shop I wanted to offer City Birds Nest readers a promo code for 15% off - "YAYSALEYAY15". But I would also love to offer a custom giveaway. The winner will be able to choose the type {Bromley, Skye, Mansfield, Stark, or Equinox} light or dark stain and chain and/or leather accessories if applicable to type. If you would like to enter leave a comment letting me know which type you would pick and your email as well. Please feel free to come chat me up over at my blog, I love meeting new readers and becoming readers of their blogs as well!

I look forward to working with the winner as well as any others who decide to purchase with me! :) -Lo
