throwback

happy monday! what a great weekend! finally got tattooed but still have maybe 3 more sessions until it is completely finished, uh!  so much more pain to endure still. my poor little thigh, its worth it though, it will be awesome when im done! In other news, tom and i had a really great day off together. the weather was warm, we had yummy food and enjoyed a trip to the thrift store (always a good day when thrifting is involved) and then had a date night!!!!!!

before our date night could start though, we had to clean up gladys, she was a mess! we de-cluttered her, vacuumed and washed down her windows because folks...we were going to a drive-in movie!!! it was my first time ever going and it was sooo much fun!!! i only want to watch movies in the back of our bug! So much fun and our little car is the best place to snuggle, down some popcorn and sip on yummy beer.

after the bug was cleaned up, it was time to get all dressed up for our date! since the computer has been broken i havent really taken pictures with our camera but we found a way that is working for us right now. it was so much fun to take these pictures since we havent done it in so long. i made tom take a picture because he was lookin' real real good.

well we headed off, found the perfect place to put the car, grabbed some popcorn and got settled in to watch hotel transylvania. it was super cute, we laughed and had so much fun. i know we will be coming back to watch the new 007 movie, cause it is soooo much cheaper then going to a theater and not to mention so much more fun! eep best date in a long while!!! i want to relive it again!!

have you gone to a drive-in theater?

there is always friday

when things don't work out the way you think, always make the best of it. tuesday i was totally pumped to lay by the lake and soak up a little sun. after 6 days of work, i needed to be a slug in the sun and read a book but by the time tom got home from work and we got out act together it was too late, the lake was closed :( so instead of heading home and being sad, tom suggest we grab an iced coffee and head to eco thrift to see what treasures awaited us.
found a new embroidery to add to our wall and i thought the hand painted boat would look great in our "man lair", aka reading nook.
i was super excited about the bathing suit i found, it looks exactly like the jcrew full bathing suit i already have but i just couldn't resist buying it. plus it was $5 and it has plastic bra cups! yea, so sweet. the shoes i was super stoked to find because i have the worst luck finding shoes while thrifting. the cute ones are always size 6 so when i saw that they were my size, and they fit and looked so cute, did a little wiggle in the aisle, thanks thrifting god for lifting my spirits :D

friday we both have the day off, so we will be visiting the lake then and basking in all it's glory!
friday, i know you are only one day away but if you could some how get here magically sooner, i would love you for the rest of my days. please and thank you.

lost at sea

 lost at sea
 there ye shall be
so sweet and bright
 but cut short your time
sunk to the bottom of the dark blue brine.

tom and i went surfing in santa cruz this weekend and we brought our wonderful underwater camera only for it to have sadly fallen off after tom had a little wipe out. what was on that roll of film will only live as the most wonderful, sweet and magical moment in my ENTIRE LIFE! yes, people my ENTIRE LIFE! picture this....

a beautiful super bright warm day, tom and i jumped in the crisp cold kelpy water and paddled out. taking in the beautiful surroundings when a faint clapping sound interrupted my zen like moment...what i saw was heavenly, a huge otter floating on his back, slapping his latest crustacean meal against his rock, minding his own business as if i didn't exists, i was in HIS territory and he could have cared less. my jaw dropped, i yelled at tom and he started snapping away, the otter went back down only to come back CLOSER to me and my board. people, i could have quite literally jumped from my surfboard and claimed this furry bearded cutie and made him my pet! he was that close to me. it was beyond amazing and right after that i caught my first wave of the day and was the happiest clam ever until tom discovered the proof of my most magical moment of my life was claimed by the sea god.

we sat on the beach for a bit before we made the trek back to the car. me: "so when the otter was super close to me, was i like, in the picture with the otter?", tom:"...yea..." me: "hmmm...bummer dude"..... it was the saddest of times but also the best of times.

well, besides that we had a killer day. great waves, otter times, we did a bit of thrifting, i found a blazer, ate the most amazing falafel and then enjoyed some beach time before we headed out into the sunset.

it felt like summer and i never wanted it to end. sea, we shall meet again...very soon.

revisiting an old friend

as i mentioned on monday i had already knocked off two things of my list, one being my new blog design and the other being..........a SURF BOARD!!!!!!
IMG_1701

yup, people i got a surfboard...well sort of...this board was actually toms and when we moved to sf back in 2003 he left it with a friend. moving to a small place and having no car made it a bit hard to continue to surf. last weekend we picked it up and since tom just got a new board it is mine, ALL MINE!
it has a few dings that need to get repaired but other then that it is perfect. it is from the 60's and tom bought it while in new zealand which was right before we met :) i can't wait to try it out...now for a wetsuit!!!
if you have ever gone surfing before you know the thrill of it, how exciting it is to catch a wave and speed through the water. how exhilarating it is. i told tom riding a bike and being able to go long distances is really awesome, how amazing that someone's body can move a machine that can propel over hills and mountains but riding a wave is like connecting with mother nature and letting it take you for a magical ride.
new surf board!!!!!
i can't wait to get into the cold salty water and feel at peace with nature. don't get me wrong the first day out will be ROUGH. my arms will feel like noodles, i will get totally rocked by the waves, swallow some salt water and probably cry from shear exhaustion but in the end there is nothing else like the feeling of having conquered a wave.

we have an underwater camera and we are both totally so stoked on using it. we think next weekend we will head down to santa cruz and revisit the place we spent most of our weekends long long ago.

oh and a big thanks to kelly-anne for telling me that our friend still had the board!

camera craze

the misters camera obsession started about a year ago...it started off with a minolta hi-matic. a very easy to use auto focus camera....cool. then he went crazy...i have come to call him the camera hoarder. it seemed like every time he came back from the thrift store he had a camera. now we have about 14 cameras some functional some not...but since he has started this collection it has been really fun taking pictures. each time he goes to walgreens it is like christmas. sometimes there aren't many good pictures that come out and some times the entire roll is beautiful..its all part of the magic of film...i am not a picture taker myself but i really like his minolta hi-matic and the pictures that are a product of it. we live in a world where everything is instant gratification and it is nice to sit back and wait for something beautiful and surprising to unfold... here are a few that i love...enjoy!
